Lot of ethnic Chinese in Siberia. Would probably like nothing better than to be part of Greater China. I say let them have a vote on it. After Chinese military units roll over the border to make sure the elections are fair. Waht's good for Comrade Putin and all… : )

It's one of my 6mm project plans, although I was disappointed with Clancy's book of the same name; only about 3 land battles and all were one-sided wipe-outs (ditto for the air) and it was about 300 pages longer than it needed to be. I think the Japanese-American spy's lingerie shopping had a bigger page count than the battles.

Well, one must have priorities…..

Simultaneously, Turkey/NATO bottles up the Black Sea Fleet in the new, Black Sea Lake, and NATO mines the Baltic to prevent Russian units there from going to sea, just for grins.

If you really want to go over the top, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and NATO attack the Kola Peninsula to close that port to the Russians as well, while the US/China/Japan close down the Siberian one(s).

Clancy's books were all about swalllowing whole the propaganda that the Pentagon (and the defense contractors!) put out.

Of course not. US forces always run smoothly and whip the bad guys, due to a combination of superior leadership, initiative, training, doctrine and technology, not to mention the moral high ground.

When the US takes casualties, it's always due to desperation and 'surprise attack' by the other side (e.g., the attack on the Reykjavik airbase in Red Storm Rising or the prescient pre-911 jumbo jet crash into Capitol Hill by a Japanese airline pilot in Debt of Honor).

Just some Special Forces during the raid near the end (which I guess I should have counted as the fourth land battle, which wasn't quite one-sided). And I think the spy had to eventually stop buying lingerie for his girlfriend – hard to tell, I eventually just started skipping chapters.

Not all of the one-sided battles had the US involved as one of the sides, but there was never any tension.

I think China has the edge between the two, assuming the Russians all have their better troops in the west.

China should eventually win, if it's only a conventional war, since they have the numbers and can conduct human wave attacks, like in Korea, in order to offset any Russian equipment advantages.

Russia has the nuclear advantage, as well as the air and naval advantage too (technologically, at least).

Not sure how they balance out in numbers between aircraft and naval vessels/subs, now.

Nukes, especially tactical ones, could be an option, but that is a very dangerous game, since it could easily escalate as one side seems to be losing, and wants to regain the advantage by using more, or larger nukes.
