Yes, they do. If I kick my co-worker, I will lose my job even if no legal action is taken. Or grab her butt. Unless she likes it. Rules are weird. |

What happens when we break the rules? We all know where go from there, To the House of Dawg! . Life is better walking on two legs.

Bought Battle tech when it first came out l0ved the mini's rules ( IMO) suck. gw 40k Mini's were cool rules aleways seemed lacking . Starfleet battles
.after the baggie game went down hill . Rules matter no sense in playing something that is no fun |

Rules are just ideas how things should proceed. "Should" is operative and can be countered by questions like "Were they?", "Does that make sense?", "Would it hold up in reality?" , "Do I like them even?"
etc. So they only matter to the extent of keeping the players controlled/guided in the simulated environment's interpretation of events. In the long run, it's grown men playing with little toys replaying a movie in their heads. |

No, apparently they don't. Neither do the antiquated concepts of civility and common courtesy. I've got 50-60 packs of 12 mm WW II to put on the Marketplace. Think I'll do a separate post for each one. |

Rules are for the reasonable and sane. A true to their salt sociopathic megalomaniac don't need no stinking rules. |

If everybody else agreed with me to play by the rules instead of ignoring them I'd have a lot more fun. And a lot less frustration. |

Perhaps you should watch the Fargo trailer, or the new TV series, which begins soon on FX. Billy Bob Thornton has the answer ye seeketh

There are no laws or rules. Just suggestions. (Not my opinion. Just from what I see and experience.) |
Cerdic | 07 Apr 2014 5:32 a.m. PST |
Rules always matter. The problem is they are not the same rules any more

Agreement matters. Without agreement we have chaos. In a game that is chaos, self-play is more meaningful, favoring the introvert and the creator of "selfies". Rules, agreed upon before the fact and during the fact of a given game, make cooperative action possible and fun equally available for all. Otherwise, create your own "selfie" is the only alternative

Sorry, Kyote, but I have found that sometimes one must walk away from TMP for a bit or it will break your heart. Or at the very least irritate you so much that you get doghoused. |
John the OFM | 07 Apr 2014 11:51 a.m. PST |
You have to read TMP not giving a damn if the Others play nice. If Dear Editor cares about the Rules, he will enforce them. If he doesn't he will not. |

I think the TMP rules are selectively enforced on a good day, but that's just how it is. |
