In the Command Decision (WW-2) Rules it list 6 levels of Troop Quality. Elite, Veteran, Experienced, Regular, Trained, and Green. But in the Combined Arms (Modern) there are only 5 levels of Troop Quality. Elite, Veteran, Experienced, Trained, and Green. Why is there no Regular Troop Quality for the Combined Arms rules? They are very closely based on the Command Decision rules. Thanks in advance. Robert henry |

Could be an oversight, CD isn't known for amazing proofreading skills in their supplements. It may also have something to do with the time period gamed. Maybe leaving out regular was purposeful in order to smooth out a mechanic in the rules? I own CD4(WW2) but have never played the modern one so I can't say for sure. |

It's not an oversight. Combined Arms is based on CD I. CD I had only five troop quality levels as does Over the Top(WWI) which is also based on CD I. CD II began the six troop quality levels and has continued through CD III and CD IV. It was a design change begun after Combined arms and Over the Top were published. So it depends on what version of CD you want your modern rules to follow. There are updated versions of modern stats out there for CDII through CD IV. Check the Yahoo groups. I have played CD through all of it's versions and this is why Combined Arms does not match later versions of CD. |

Yes, this was done on purpose
We discussed this 20 years ago why the Bundeswehr are all veterans. We never found out in which war they got this status. :) Greetings |

G'day all, As pointed out OTT (Over The Top) and CA (Combined Arms)are sort of CDv1.5 (well somewhere between v1 and v2 ;-)) As to Experienced/Veteran/Elite for units taht haven't fought.. it can be a recognition of apptitude/training and unit cohesion.. and player expectation.. ;-( Just as morale ratings are subjective.. so too are experience ratings.. IMO the more variety the more interesting the games! |

Thanks all. I am working on some other army's that I have not found in the rules as well as the post WW-II -Cold War and Post Cold War Period. Any personal opinions / references from the rules would be great. Thanks in advance. That makes sense as I've only played CD III and IV. |

Actually, CD 1 had only four troop quality levels, not five: green, experienced, veteran, and elite. Not sure where the five levels were introduced other than Combined Arms (Modern) because I think CD 2 had already introduced six -- but I can't promise that's true, as I only played it once and don't have those rules. |
