I designed this some time ago but having only recently discovered this forum i thought id share it. link at between 6.25 and 6.75 inches tall depending on the positioning of the legs it would seem to me to fit the 'higher than the tallest steeple' description when placed against 15mm figures |

You have some cool designs there. You should make aircraft in 15mm. |

Thank you. I keep planning to make the Martian flying machine to go along with the tripod and handling machine but just cant get the design to look right in my head. I know what it probably should look like but manta ray shapes are so cliched *L* A far as 15mm aircraft i have been thinking of resizing some of my alternate history WW1 and post war era fighters and aerial warships. Right now the fighters are around 2 inches which would make them a bit large. |

I like that. Is it 3-d printed? |

His store on Shapeways is 'Gosric' (Hit 'About' on the blog for a link; I went stupid ((short trip)) trying to find a Lorelei ANYTHING there
;->= ) This thing is on page 28 sorted by 'Newest'; good thing I tried first and last pages, rather than scroll through the whole store. Okay, tis a place for a bit of serendipity, but REALLY! Doug |

I've got two of each design and they are indeed excellent! Far sturdier than they appear and very reasonably priced! |

I am glad you guys like them. I was merely posting for opinion rather than trying to drum up business but yes it is 3d printed. The legs and tentacles are separate to allow some level of posing more for visual effect than anything else in case of multiple models being in play. link That is the link so as to avoid going though a lot of my earlier models which im in the process of removing. And the Handling Machine. link I try to keep as accurate to the concepts as possible as i see them (Keeping in mind that Wells had recently been to see an exhibit of marine life and claimed that it got him thinking about alien life forms. So the handler becomes the Spider crab, the Flyer the Manta and the Tripod the Jellyfish. which is odd but considering many jellys have three longer tendrils surrounded by wavier tentacles and a domed top section it seemed logical) I had to take a bit of a liberty in the handler design since in the completely unabridged version of the story it is described as having about 16 small manipulative tentacles in front and that would not really be printable. I'm working on a posable Handler but computer issues are slowing the process down |

I was merely posting for opinion
Which I totally failed to give. Found the walker a bit tall/spindly, but rather like the 'cage' in back.
and that would not really be printable
In one piece, yes, but you could go for a 'kit'. Doug |

It is all a matter pf preference. To me they have always seemed spindly probably from growing up with Jeff Wayne and a poster of the Martian Tripod from the first edition print of the book. Though sturdier would probably make more sense i wanted to avoid the Wyndham Tripod A kit for the manipulators might work. But probably would be best on a larger model On this scale though the best option would just be to add a couple of sockets in the front under the control centre and insert a bundle of thin wires, that way they could be placed according to preference. hmm, not sure why i didn't think of that earlier once my comp issues are fixed i think i will do just that on the model |

It's that whole 'brainstorming' thing; I don't design for ****, but occasionally am the inspiration. ;->= Doug |

Thank you for that. This is one of the reasons i post my designs so as to get fresh eyes. i may not agree or i may agree wholeheartedly with suggestions but they are always good to hear. maybe i should post my WW1 Aerial battleships for opinions *L* |

Will you, if I PROMISE to say only nice, but useful, things? *whine* Doug Edit: Sorry, Wyndham Tripod? |
Einar Gosric | 09 Apr 2014 1:35 p.m. PST |
Oops. *L* Damn this insomnia. Wyndham on the brain. I meant John Christopher Tripods. Ok. But dont hesitate to say bad things about them if you feel the urge. i can take it *L* |
