Hey everyone, as many of you know, I'm moving most of my collection up to 28mm. What most of you don't know, is that I'm trying to find new ancient periods to play in. I have: Marian romans gauls Successors Galatians (wip) ancient spanish ancient british Dacians Early imperial romans Early saxons Subroman british late western empire Vikings Late saxons Periods I'm interested in: Samnite wars Punic wars Assyrian expansion Jewish revolt Spartacus revolt
I'm mostly interested in the samnite and Punic wars Atm. My questions: 1: what period do you recommend out of those I have listed? 2: what companies make decent 28mm figures for that time period? Thanks Austin |

I could do samnite and Punic in one swoop couldn't I? I already have Spanish and Celts, just need Latins Romans and Carthaginians and numidians Thanks Austin |

With Gauls and Spanish already you don't need much more for a Carthaginian army. |

Carthos are great from the wargaming perspective – they hired pretty much everyone in the western basin, so you only need a relative handful of actual Carthos for a representative army. |

Middle Republican Roman Vs. Carthaginian is just about the greatest place to begin ancients. Once the Carthaginian Army is built you have the beginnings of a Spanish, Celtic and Numidian armies. You can include Greeks, they can be allies or enemies of both Carthage or Rome. Once your core Roman army is built, you will/should need an equal number of allied legionaires, and that can include Samnites, Etruscans, Oscans Etc
These allies then become the beginning of your rise of Rome in Italy armies. You seem to already have three armies that fought the republican romans, (Gauls, Spaniards and Successors.) |

If you do Samnites, both A&A Miniatures & Crusader have great ranges. Damon. |
