Too bad my AWI Highlanders have the great kilt draped over the shoulder and have pleats. |

Why not just use Tartan paint?

And I thought the painters just had incredibly steady hands and worked with a microscope. |

Come on folks! Tartan is a geometric pattern, not all that hard to paint! Practice and a good brush are necessary. The real hard bit are the diced hose. Diagonal lines intersecting spiralling down a tapering cylindrical suface withoutchanging angle or wideness? I always enjoy painting tartans and prefer the more difficult ones. Cameron of Erracht for the 79th. is a favourite! I've done it on every thing from 6mm to 100mm figures. |

I am amazed that such a product can be made. Tartan decals, for certain figures only; how specialized is that? And not just kilts, but headbands and hose tops! I feel foolish for painting these by hand all these years. Is this how craftsmen felt when factories began? |

Well, they still don't have them for 15mm or 20mm, so my Highlanders have to do with my less than stellar tartans and checks. |

I'm surprised there's not more of this type of thing. Shabraque ornaments, sabertache, there's a lot out there that could benefit from this type of decal. |

I am also finding that it is pretty easy to make one's own. I've made a few attempts at badges for the backpacks of my 28mm British and I'm fairly pleased with the results. I'd be more pleased if I had a better printer, but that problem is easy enough to solve by throwing money at it. |

@1815Guy; Where can one get Rotring pens anymore? I'm in Canada. |
