I have started to paint up a Battalion of Peter Pig's Fallschirmjäger for Rapid Fire, here is some navel gazing about it: link Thanks for looking! |

As you go smaller you need to paint lighter to avoid looking too dark. So if you want to wash you need to paint them lighter and use a subtler thinner wash imo. I've seen a fairly effective result on naps. The methos used was. Prime white. Block very bright versions of colours in. Looks ridiculously bright. Wash over with thinned winsor nut brown. I think you need to vary the colour of the wash/stain over though. White looked a bit suss. |

Cheers AONeill, good advice there. I have always thought what the point of super painting 15mm minis is, they all look like little mucky blobs on the table anyway. I may just block paint these and leave them as they are. I won't be painting them just yet anyway, so a bit more thought is required

I had the same problem when I went to 15mm from 20mm. It requires a different painting technique for sure. In the end I got tired of lightening my paints and messing with my wash formula, and painted them like that anyway. They still looked a good wargames paintjob, but they weren't display quality by any means. Eventually I packed them away and now play with 28s, since I moved to squad level rules. I actually think yours look very good, if you can make out the camo and skin in 15mm then you did it right. |

Thanks Ethanj21, I usually go by the arm's length rule; if they look good at arm's length then they'll be OK on the table! |

Good skills Abwehr, I'm currently slugging through a similar project (although individually based). Love the little FJ's, hate the numbers of camo available and tons of equipment carried :) |

Cheers BALM, yeah, camo is a killer at this scale, but I hope they will turn our OK. Good luck with your project! |

Once again cracking stuff! But 15mm is still something I can't crack! Which makes these even better, and doing camo in 15mm I take my hat off to you |

Thanks Bracken, praise indeed! |

Splinter in 15mm isn't too hard if you just block in the major pieces (the thin vertical lines can't really be seen at any real distance). For my 15mm forces, I just block the colors in and wash. Quick and dirty, but when you have a good 200 of the little bastards to paint, quick is good. I just haven't cracked 15mm Napoleonics yet. |

Yep, LITS, Napoleonics scare the bejesus out of me at ANY scale! I'd love to get a Nappies army, but I know I would be killing myself over the details! |
