I have been thinking for a while about starting a "group" dedicated to medieval gaming. I envision a forum of sorts where we discuss various medieval sets of rules, histories, house rules, heraldry resources, etc… I would also like it to include a few get-togethers where we play various medieval rules and battles, kind of a small medieval oriented con. Would this be interesting to anyone out there? It may have already been done, and if so I would love to join if someone knows of such an organization. Seeing the topic today "SoA Battle Day-Montaperti, just furthered my desire to do this. Any feedback would be welcome.

Thanks – Allen

lead-adventure.de
has a forum for Medieval gamming, have you looked there yet?

Why bother when we already have this board?

The Lance and Longbow Society is what you are lookig for I think:

I say go for it. There are never enough forums around. Bear in mind though that it's a lot of work to keep everyone civil and talking. And numbers are the key, for every 50 to 100 members you'll have 1 or 2 active posters so you have to get the word out. Social Media is your friend.

I am as interested in a few small medieval cons as I am the forum, maybe it should just be directed towards that. Warwizard, thanks for the info on lead adventures.

Lance and longbow society would be the obvious place, the problem is no one really uses it. Maybe try and drum up some regulars there first to see if it would take off?

For English-language forums, I am an addict of both TMP and LAF (Lead adventure).

It's not exactly the same flavour (TMP feels more American and LAF more European, even if many people visit both) so it depends on the subjects.

Sounds like a great idea to me, especially if you were to hold it some place that I could attend.

Lance and Longbow society is already there, post there and they will come, well at least I would visit!

There is little to no activity there at the moment. However, I will make the point is visiting it every day for the next two weeks. If anyone feels like giving it a go, then count me in.

Sounds great to me, but as jowady says beware, the problem is with this period you get into peoples heritage, sense ablities and sometimes even religion.

Lewisgunner04 Apr 2014 10:57 a.m. PST

the Society of Ancients covers the period and has quite a lively members forum at soa.org.uk

That's true too, Roy.

I should go there more often :-)
