I am building a kit of HMS Agincourt, 1917 fit, and the kit has paravanes and tackle for said. Dreadnoughts minesweeping? Seriously?

They may have been fitted, but I doubt it was their primary duty!
More likely it was a precaution for when the "real" minesweepers missed a few.

After all, how many battleships were fitted with torpedo tubes? I wonder how many battleships ever used them, or how many actually hit something with them.

The battleships would stream their paravanes in areas where mines might have been laid. It was purely a defensive measure and they were not intended to sweep whole minefield.

A legacy gift to the Royal Navy as a hangover from the Dardenelles disaster?

I believe it is claimed that the Rodney fired (and hit) the Bismarck in her final battle. I think that would be the only case of a battleship fired torpedo hitting anything.

Probably so.

There's some debate on this. Some sources say that she fired up to 12 torpedoes and prior to this an early near miss from Bismarck jammed her port torpedo doors, while other sources say that the tubes were removed prior to the engagement.

No.

They were built with them but removed, post Dardanelles, where they were proven ineffective
