Not my period of interest, but really nice looking minis all the same.

I thought the Wargames Factory Numidians were nice and had lots of options, but these are fantastic.

combined with all the nice 28mm plastic hoplites out there… this might be enough to make me get some…

slightly more info, it appears from the victrix website that they are being released as a set of peltasts, but the archers are coming in a set of unarmored hoplites… I'm not too happy about this because I'm partial to having armored hoplites. I'm thinking its the same torso with different arms. here is to hoping this set will have enough arms to provide a full box of either hoplites or archers.

From an answer I received from Victrix I think these unarmoured hoplites come with fixed arms – which being plastic can be cut off and re-positioned. I do like their armoured hoplites – I used their mercenary set.

I understand that a newsletter will be distributed at Salute with a better description of the contents of the box.

The detailing is certainly better than the WGF Numidians, but the poses seem a bit awkward, or too specific to a warrior that must be slinging, and many of the tunics are only one-shouldered. This makes them less versatile, and therefore less appealing, to me, even though the sculpt quality itself is definitely better. Of course I have enough hoplites that are in need of light support that I may well get some anyways!

A little work with the old greenstuff are these are a cheap way of flooding the table with Welsh/Pictish skirmishers.

Victrix Germans look great. Oh no a reason to buy even more 28mm Ancients. Might use them for SPQR skirmish rules if the rules give a good game ?

'Clash of Spears' is coming, for rules.
