Meh…

Some good looking figures and great sculpting, but….. in scrolling through the link provided, my first reaction was (and I mean no criticism of the sculptors or the concept) everywhere I looked I saw a little Warmachine, a little Okko, a little Confrontation, Wargods, Infinity, Star Wars, Relic Knights, Malifax, etc.

I wonder if we have reached the point where everthing new is a recombination of the old.

All I can see is people who could not possibly fight in those outfits without tripping over something or knocking their hats or backpacks off.

There is undoubtedly a LOT of Confrontation influence.

Especially evident in their not-wolfen!

Dear John

You misunderstand. The figures are all for a ceremonial ballet like a Noh Play.

All the movies are stylized and according to a strict time-honored coda. All very elevated and cerebral.

I recognize several of the positions. One is called " Sidewards Glancing Ablutionist." Another is "Paralax inhibiting Tulip." These dancers perform these poses and recite a modified Haiku-style dialogue, that goes like.

"There once was a man from Calcutta
Who coated his tonsils with butta
Thus converting his snore,
from a Thunderous Roar
to a soft, oleaginous, mutta."

Or another version of the art form hearkens back to age old epigrams of wisdom and arcane knowledge which were placed on monuments scattered around the countryside by the sides of roads to keep the travelers awake and edified. One goes.
successive signs carried these messages.

"My Job"

Is Keeping

Faces Clean.

Nobody knows

Da Stubble I seen.

The last line always carried the name of the sage… Burma Sage."

One other thing.

The detail on the resin masters is tremendous and wonderful. I wonder how much will actually get translated tot he figure and how the undercuts will be handled (especially on the one with the ties across the front in a band straight down the figure, showing the nude below.

I fear much will be lost.

The figures however for the detail alone are tremendous. I would wish that these had been made in 90mm or even larger statuettes first.
