GW's new Taurox (or Taurox Prime for the Militarum Tempestus) is obviously inspired by the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) armored vehicle. Replacing wheels with tracks is just silly though.

The tracks are there to make it sci fi. Don't you keep up? |
Covert Walrus | 02 Apr 2014 1:50 a.m. PST |
No. No, that is more "Silly" than Skiffy. |

GW has jumped the shark, the final straw was the stupid looking larger terminator armour things, and these are just mouldy cherries on top, just horrible. |

Well, really, the Grey knights "baby carrier" was a turning point for me. |

I wonder if there isnt a good set of wheels you could use on the Taurox. I kinda want to like it as it does remind me of the MRAP
but yeah
the tracks on it look misplaced. |

When I first saw a pic of this "thing" I thought it was an ugly resin kit put out but a non-GW company to appeal to less discerning WH40K players. Ugh! |

its also amazingly similar to the Quad gun tractor from WW2 link Google picy link |

Reminds me of the TMNT attack van:

Not fair to the MRAP to compare it to this major GW fail. Perhaps the aftermarket will save it with some wheel kits? Too bad
the new plastic storm troopers are kinda nice. But this new vehicle is just
puke

Why do vehicles need double mud guards? answer when it's an after thought. It's a dog
end of discussion
how do you get on to the bottom step to get in? answer absolutely no idea, maybe jump pack. |

its also amazingly similar to the Quad gun tractor from WW2 True, it has the compressed boxiness of the Quad tractor, but it's huge size is more akin to the MRAP. You need to leap just to reach the footsteps on the sides as they're above the waist level of the figure. Try doing that with an 80-lb pack on your back.

I don't mind the basic MRAP shape, but those tracks
good grief. For some reason it looks to me like an animal walking around on four stumps where its legs should be. |
James Wright | 02 Apr 2014 3:22 p.m. PST |
Yeah, reminds me of the ugly lovechild of a Jawa sand crawler and an MRAP. None of the cool parts of either. The problem with aftermarket parts for the Taurox, is those track-wells will not transfer well to wheel-wells. Whoever checked the APPROVED box in the art department at GW dropped the ball with this one. The new IG codex was going to be what either drove me away from WH40k for good, or brought me back. They definitely lost me. |
OGREAI | 02 Apr 2014 11:19 p.m. PST |
Maybe I'm just senile, but is that not a rack and pinion setup between the front tracks in that picture just above of the Taurox Prime? They think they are going to physically turn those tread mounts? I knew I was done, but they could always tempt me with new cool Eldar or Tau
Now this is just too much like middle school doodling on the back of a notebook. Done cannot begin to describe it. |

Dont know what the designers at GW were thinkin..hell even the TMNT attack van looks better! |
javelin98 | 04 Apr 2014 9:16 a.m. PST |
It's probably a heck of a lot cheaper, too! |

I thought this was ugly a year or so ago when Matchbox came out with it –
Sorry, couldn't hear you over all the GW lawyers yelling about IP . . . |
