The War You Don't See is an excellent new documentary exposing the reality of modern warfare and the blind complicity of the mainstream media. From a renowned filmaker, this is an absolute must-see for anyone who is interested in how war really operates in the modern era. You will probably be able to see a number of News reporters, presenters and journalists whom you personally recognise, and they are finally coming out and categorically stating how we are being systematically lied to. link The film itself is at the bottom of the link, scroll down below the short introduction. Thanks for watching, TW. |

Didn't watch the whole thing, but just a little convinced me it is very biased. Opening sequence, reportedly showing an unreported Apache attack, is old news--not that I'm advocating such a thing, but it's been done to death already. And to say the whole thing is because of a complicit media and right wing government and corporate interesting advancing conflict around the world, well, I think he needs a tinfoil hat! |

Well, of course we are. Foreign conflicts need to be wrapped up in five-minute segments of starving children, calls for 'freedom' and 'democracy', and of course, things exploding in spectacular fashion. Damn near everything you see is the dumbed-down 'theme park version'. Conveniently light on facts, of course. I'm too young to remember the opening stages of OIF clearly (although I remember 9/11 plain as day), but I'll have to say that the 'Arab Spring' is our equivalent. The amount of outright lies propagated on behalf of Al Qaeda is remarkable. Hint: the SAA aren't the only ones using chemical weapons. |

Based on TW's comments on another post
I think this will film will go on my "must not watch" list
it sounds like a story I've heard too many times before
growing up during the Vietnam War, and watching the media at least twice daily

Gotta love post-modernist news reporting: Whatever is presented must support the Narrative. No, not the facts of what actually HAPPENED, but what the "news media" wants people to think happened! |

Well, that's pretty much what Pilger is saying, isn't it? |

Very, very, few don't question wars
you are being a bit reactionary, IMO
The US no longer has a draft [since '72 IIRC], so only voluteers join the military [like I did, '79-'90]
If you join the ARMED FORCES, there is always the chance you may be in a conflict

I generally find that anyone who assures me that I'm being lied to, and the truth is really a vast conspiracy of shadowy figures and organisations operating an elaborate con, has their head up their . Personally, I think there *is* a conspiracy to convince the unwitting that there is a conspiracy, so they are distracted from the distressingly straightforward (yet terribly complicated) problems our society faces. |

Pilger and Chomsky have their own agendas that they try and push, twisting facts to fit their prejudices
The left and the right, both as dumb and hypocritical as each other. |

I completely agree tuscaloosa and Edwulf

Just lying to us about the wars? I always assumed they lied to us about everything. After all governments are in the business of being reelected for another term, so put a positive spin on things and keeping quiet about unpleasant truths is par for the course. Mind you were democratic governments to hit their populations with the full truth about the economy, health, threats, welfare, education etc there would be mass hysteria. |

No governments tell the truth, it's just the citizens in a communist one are well aware how crap everything really is. As for Pilger and Chomsky railing against distortions, surely a pot calling kettle scenario of gigantic proportions? |
