Ok y'all, I recently bought two F-toys 1/144 F-14 Tomcats and two Sukhoi Su-22 Fitter K's that I will paint up as Libyan Air Force Circa 1980's my ultimate plan is to run the Gulf of Sidra incident of 1981. The opposing player or players will run the US Navy Tomcats and I be the Hapless Libyans. I have heard of "Check Your Six Jet Age". Are these rules simple enough for convention use and would they support this scenario. Thank you and salut y'all!

Wessex Games C21, is a simple air combat system.

Might be more convention friendly.

Although the free lite version might meet your needs with a bit of tweaking.

Yea, C21 is probably best.

I'll have to give that a try, since I've got some of those nice, big Tomcats too, and perhaps even a pair of Su-22s buried away, somewhere.

I see Check Your Six Jet Age at our local conventions all the time. Not saying it is the "best" choice, just that it can work in a convention setting. Having played the game, it can be frustrating for a new player who doesn't plot well and flies around with out ever getting a shot off and ends up being an easy target.

Indeed C21 srarted life as a set of convention rules (for a game at Colours many years ago)

If you're looking to simulate a raid as a whole including all the aircraft involved, try Thud Ridge.

One of these rules sets is worth a look (all are based off of the Mustangs! boardgame)

This page has the Phantoms and Intruders versions of the Mustangs rules listed above, plus several other free (but pretty simple air to air rules):

The page that talks about the Phantoms rules is here:
