Just picked up Frog God's Rappan Athuk Megadungeon in pdf format.

Wow.

It's just spectacular and fodder for years of campaigning. I picked up the Swords & Wizardry version and if you are a fan of 1st ed. D&D it's probably the best dungeon I have seen since Temple of Elemental Evil.

We're going through it right now. I've ran it before back in 3.0 and 3.5.

Careful though, as it is VERY deadly. I suggest that the characters be a couple of levels higher than recommended, even in Pathfinder. Using some sort of luck/hero point system also helps out tremendously otherwise you have a slew of dead PCs and TPKs.

I've got the S&W version and have slowly been reading my way through it… kind of giving it a workover to make it more relevant to my homebrew setting.
It really is so absolutely huge that it could be a campaign unto itself, ala 'Megadungeons' like RQ's Big Rubble or Earthdawn's Parlainth… or just a location to return to for the occasional bit of ultra-violence.
Definitely a good purchase.

I was planning on the players doing B2 Keep on the Borderlands first and that leads them to the Cult of Orcus and Rappan Athuk. That way they would be 3rd level when they got there.

We just started Part II this weekend, and I can confirm the dungeon is deadly. After two near misses with Part I, the DM let the adventure do its work this weekend. We took a three hour break to roll new characters as the party, minus the mage, were killed.

I haven't had that kind of fun with D&D in almost 20 years.

I was looking at the web site for Frog God… Can you folks tell me what the difference between the "Hero Lab" version for $14.99 USD and the more expensive version?

Thanks!

The Hero lab is a supplement for Rappan Athuk I believe.

One thing I've noticed running it a few times before the newest update is that, at least in 3.5, there wasn't enough encounters in the dungeon to keep the level advancement rate up to what is needed as you progress through the dungeon.

The newer, expanded version isn't quite so bad. I'd still consider an XP bonus for completing a level though to help even things out a bit.

The dungeon is heavy on Save or Die traps or creatures so be warned. I know some people aren't fans of that style so you may need to re-work parts of it.
