Just to get the ball rolling I'll offer up some alien types I'd like to see more of in 28mm:

1) Non-humanoid species such as:

picture

and:

picture

2) Alien civilians, such as:

picture

and:
link

3) Some good Felines, like Khurasan's 15mm Felids:

And finally,
4) Everything Khurasan does in 15mm sci fi!

Somehow I duplicated this thread…

Pierson's Puppeteers. I recall there was one way back in the dim mists of time, but I'd love to see a really good modern sculpt.

Caesar31 Mar 2014 9:44 a.m. PST

Zombiesmith has got some great aliens. The Star Mogul range is also quite nice with the Hydrissians and Mephalians, but these are in limbo right now.
I also like the models from SuperFigs.

These types of aliens are the kind that I like.

leidang31 Mar 2014 9:52 a.m. PST

Defintely non-humanoid. There are plenty of humans with heads of other things out there.

ming3131 Mar 2014 10:09 a.m. PST

Hydrissians from Alpha Forge are some of my fovorites .

Delta Vee31 Mar 2014 10:22 a.m. PST

puppeteers, the affront from the Ian M banks books, the cetauroid lizard ones from the Hells faire series, some of the non humans from the Lensman books.

HMS Exeter31 Mar 2014 10:39 a.m. PST

2nd the nomination for the Felids.

Space Monkey31 Mar 2014 10:46 a.m. PST

The Hydrissians Ming31 mentions are quite nice.
Centipede/worm looking sentients would be nice.
Some weirder 'Cthulhuesque' races with tech would be cool.

GURPS Aliens has the Traders which look like floating 4-dimensional sea shells… I'd jump at owning some of those.

Zargon31 Mar 2014 10:54 a.m. PST

The alien invaders from the movie 'Battle Los Angeles', please please, all the types including the "commanders" The vehicles and air support would also be very nice. The infantry types can be multi build and swap types. ( My USMC need real opposition please they're tired off calling in air support on Taliban ambush targets :/

Cadian 7th31 Mar 2014 11:11 a.m. PST

I'm not too picky, but open up any 1980 Alien Legion comic and start sculpting! ;)

TwinMirror31 Mar 2014 11:20 a.m. PST

Great suggestions guys.

I love the zombiesmith aliens, I've got loads of 'em. Hoping for the Hydrassians and Mephalians to be rereleased, too.

Puppeteers would be great, too.

The awesome non-humanoids in my post are from the New Federation Alien Shocktrooper Squad, which have just been launched at CP Models (I got the pics from the sculptor's blog)

Jon at Khurasan said the Felids should be available in 28mm soon…I hope that means real soon!

Ron W DuBray31 Mar 2014 11:24 a.m. PST

I still want something like this 28mm tall to top of head.

2008 was the year I posted it on the net first drawings were back in high school class of 82.

I'd the gorrilaphant, to go with my bearspiders and octophants!!!!!!

Mako1131 Mar 2014 2:25 p.m. PST

This one, in this exact pose, or very close to it (another with the SMG at his waist, and level, firing too), from the ancient TV show, UFO, by Gerry Anderson.

Here's a color image (I prefer this suit type, which is the same as the one above).

Finally, here's another photo for reference, but I like the suit with the mesh rings better than these).

I suspect a lot of others might like them too.

Hmmm, not sure why I can post the pics directly, like I used to, but they are red-suited aliens, with flashy, metallic helmets, green liquid to breath, and carrying snazzy SMGs for personal defense.

Here's a link to some more shots, from different angles of the alien.

Here's another image, but the others above are better.

I just ordered the new CP figs. Nice sculpts!

Wargamer Blue31 Mar 2014 3:23 p.m. PST

Battle Los Angeles aliens.

BelgianRay31 Mar 2014 3:54 p.m. PST

Thank you Wargamer Blue

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut31 Mar 2014 5:26 p.m. PST

The invaders from Niven and Pournelle's "Footfall." The size and shape of baby elephants with a split trunk to accomodate tool use.

SBminisguy31 Mar 2014 6:00 p.m. PST

28mm Vargr (wolf dudes) from Traveller!

Caesar31 Mar 2014 8:09 p.m. PST

Anything from Farscape would do as well…

Kevin ABQ31 Mar 2014 10:02 p.m. PST

Posleen ala Ron DuBray's drawing above. Heck, I'd like them in 6mm and 15mm as well!

Allen5731 Mar 2014 10:24 p.m. PST

Any non humanoid types. . There are plenty of man in the rubber suit style aliens out there this includes the Drantaks, Hydrissians and Mephalians.

tnjrp31 Mar 2014 10:38 p.m. PST

I heartily second that. Nonhumanoid/exotic is the most bizarrely neglected niche of this industry, seeing as it could trivially populate that niche (unlike, say, television, where the rubber forehead xeno is something of a necessity).

Some of the exotics should definitely be civilian types of course.

TwinMirror01 Apr 2014 2:56 a.m. PST

I totally agree, Allen and tnjrp.

It's a mystery to me why there are so many humanoid alien miniatures, when the format allows for so much more variety than film or tv.

and it's also a mystery how my thread duplicated itself…hmmm.

TwinMirror01 Apr 2014 2:59 a.m. PST

terrement: I've talked to Mark at CP models, and once the initial release programme for the Alien Shocktroopers goes through, before long he should be releasing seperate head and arm sets, so you'll be able to build up larger single-species units from the alien shocktroopers, to your own specifications.

SBminisguy: I guess you already know about underfire's upcoming range of tall (35mm) wolf humanoids…wulven, I think he calls them. They look pretty cool, and should be out soon.

TwinMirror01 Apr 2014 3:13 a.m. PST

Ron DuBray: Centauroids are cool, especially reptilians, but for some reason (as with all non-humanoid aliens), minis with centaur body plans seem to be extremely rare. In the distant past there were GW's zoats and then…nothing!

Sculptor wiffwaff designed a whole squad of reptilian centauroids a couple of years ago, and somebody apparently bought them for production, but the project seems to have sunk without trace…

TwinMirror01 Apr 2014 4:02 a.m. PST

Fonthill: I forgot to say – cool that you're into these figures too! I can't wait to get hold of 'em…should be great fun designing some 'new' species, figuring out what heads to give which bodies!
