Are the 15mm Old Glory packs sold by 19th century the same as the packs sold by OG before they came out with Blue Moon?

No, I understand that Old Glory 15mm/19th Century is a different company from Old Glory25mm/Blue Moon.

The 15mm Old Glory sold by 19th Century are the original 15mm Old Glory line. It was sold to 19th Century over 15 years ago.
Blue Moon is a new line that was developed in the last few years and are all new sculpts and is sold by Old Glory.

If I was starting my 15mm ACW collection today rather than 25 years ago, I am sure I would be looking seriously at the Blue Moon 15mm/18mm line that is put out by Old Glory 25s today. But a couple decades ago the Old Glory 15s broke away from the old trend you saw with Heritage and Minifig where almost all the figures were the same and rather stiff in appearance. The Old Glory 15s offered a lot of figure variety at a great price. They became the basis for my ACW collection, and I still love them although I have always supplemented my collection with interesting figures from other manufacturers such as Peter Pig, Battle Honours, and Minifig (mainly wagons). Since the advent of the Blue Moon 15mm/18mm ACW figures I've added some of those to my collection… they make a great field hospital for example. You can see my collection (mainly Old Glory 15s) in diorama form at link

I'm not sure that the ACW packs currently offered by 19th Century are the exact same as the original Old Glory line.

I have some of the original Old Glory packs. They had a lot of excellent personality figures in their packs.

I had the opportunity to see some of the 19th Century figures last year and most of the old personality type figures seemed to be missing from the packs.

I heard that 19th Century had much of the line remastered over the years. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but the packs that I saw did not seem as animated as the old ones.

If the" personality type figures" such as men helping wounded by giving them a drink from a canteen or helping them from the battlefield are no longer part of the Old Glory 15s' packs that is a real lose. Old Glory put one or two in each pack of 100 figures back in the day. Twenty-plus years ago I wrote Russ a letter telling him how much I liked the figures, and he called me to thank me for the letter. During our conversation, I mentioned how great I thought those "personality type figures" were and he sent me some in the mail. I had a chance to remind him of that call and thank him in person at Historicon 2012. They were great additions and while in each pack of Old Glory 15s infantry there were a couple infantry poses I wasn't nuts about, by-and-large they were really interesting figures with lots of different poses in each bag and I'd be very sorry to hear that they are no longer being produced. Sorry for the rambling walk down memory lane. Richard

i was at the historicon(camphill) when the first, really first 15mm old glory acw were released. they had skirmishing, advancing and marching for union and rebs. 100(plus a few casulties) in plain zip lock bags for $15. USD they were still sold by the english man(sorry, don't remember his name.) who latter died. then they were sold to russ.
great line. much better than the blue moon giants…

That English man was Dave Allsop. (his wife and son are visiting from ireland next week in fact). Dave did not sell Old Glory to me as I have always owned the company. He was an employee that without him it would have been very difficult to start a compant like OG. Just don't want any urban legends to get started. Also, I was right there at the booth at camp hill with the Englishman. The figures then as now were cast right here in the USA --thus the name "OLD GLORY".

Dave Allsop was a very talented sculptor and good friend. I miss him.

The core 15mm OG ACW packs went through at least three revamps, I believe. There were the original Dave Allsop sculpts, then new versions by a couple of other sculptors whose names escape me, then another lot by Andy Cooper (West Wind).

I have hundreds of representatives of all three styles, and they mix very well.

The peripheral packs (Iron Brigade, Texans etc.) appeared at various stages, but mainly after Mr Allsop's tenure, I think.

Darkoath24 Aug 2014 3:27 p.m. PST

Do the packs sold now mix all three of the styles?
