Just finished them tonight.

MarkCorbett30 Mar 2014 3:26 p.m. PST

Just need to finish basing them.

Very nice. I just got some of the earlier revolutionary period French in greatcoats from AB and they are lovely figures. Hopefully I can paint them as well as yours.

MarkCorbett30 Mar 2014 3:36 p.m. PST

Cheers. Look forward to seeing them. I've tried a few manufacturers and nothing I've found matches AB for quality.

paulalba30 Mar 2014 5:46 p.m. PST

You've done a great job on them. Got a few of these to do myself at some point.

VonBlucher30 Mar 2014 6:29 p.m. PST

Looking good!! I have a whole division in bicorne waiting to be painted.

MarkCorbett31 Mar 2014 2:35 a.m. PST

Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm doing the later period but I've read that some of the provisional regiments were issued with bicornes as late as1812. If i can be reasonably sure this was the case then I may get a few units in bicornes too.

Very nice! What did you use for the snow??

MarkCorbett01 Apr 2014 5:44 a.m. PST

It's wet "grey pumice" actually…although I'm thinking the snowy look quite suits the figures.

Looks good. I don't understand the skirmishing grenadiers though. Must be some scenario you're working on. Do you have a blog?

Gratian01 Apr 2014 3:59 p.m. PST

The guys in with epaulettes? They're painted as light infantry carabiniers.

With the greatcoats they'll be almost identical to a line grenadier company – trousers are blue however (mostly).

MarkCorbett01 Apr 2014 11:59 p.m. PST

Whoops, my last post was a bit garbled..I meant to say…"the guys with red epaulettes?"

ThePeninsularWarin15mm02 Apr 2014 4:16 a.m. PST

Mark,

Well the striped pants aren't issued garments, so I was thinking you were doing a more campaign look. I don't know if carabiniers would be tossed forward for skirmishing with voltiguers. Since the chasseur campanies skirmish, I would presume they would be up there and the carabiniers forming the reserve – unless you intend to represent entire battalions in skirmish formation?

At any rate, I like your figures. I have some of these exact figures and I really think the simplicity of overcoats is a good thing at times. We all like the pretty uniforms but sometimes as gamers we forget weather effects on battles.

Gratian02 Apr 2014 3:17 p.m. PST

Oh, they're definitely meant to look like they're on campaign.

I didn't know that about carabiniers – I assumed the whole regiment could be called upon to skirmish.

Just started by the big guy tonight…still a long way to go before he's finished.

Wasn't he taller than that……….? (grin)

MarkCorbett03 Apr 2014 9:38 a.m. PST

Maybe a little, but bear in mind AB are 'large' 15mm

And now pretty much finished. I'll give him a couple of aides / bodyguards. All based for FoGN.

Littlearmies05 Apr 2014 9:06 a.m. PST

He looks beautiful – it's a bit of a shame there is no room for staff on there – the AB set is really lovely.

von Winterfeldt10 Apr 2014 1:06 p.m. PST

very nice figures and excellent painting, I would have to convert them a bit to add bayonets otherwise don't worry about grenadiers or any other French infantry skirmishing, they all could and did it.

MarkCorbett12 Apr 2014 10:38 a.m. PST

Cheers von Winterfeldt. I agree that fixed bayonets would look nice…however, I do find that I'm quite prone to losing the odd bayonet one way or another, so for me it's quite practical to have them without.

Finished Napoleon with Roustam

paulalba13 Apr 2014 2:06 a.m. PST

Lovely finish Mark,
Amaing shading you have achieved and the eyes to by the looks of it.

MarkCorbett15 Apr 2014 5:46 a.m. PST

Thanks Paul. I wouldn't normally attempt this much detail, but I think for characters / individuals it's worth the extra effort.

paulalba15 Apr 2014 9:37 a.m. PST

Absolutely! You and the other guys doing the little big man over the past year has got me thinking of doing my own. I have cleaned them up. Just need to get the right base/bases now.

Look forward to seeing more of your figures Mark.
