In about one week I go to a five days trip to Lisbon (Portugal). What are the interesting places specially for wargamers in Lisbon? Sightseeing points, museums, shops – anything what might be interesting for someone who likes wargaming and military history. Werner |

The Army Museum is pretty good. Evenly divided between the Peninsula War, or Guerra da Independencia as they call it, and their post colonial campaigns of the 50s and 60s. Some great mannequins of their Napoleonic Uniforms. If your into Naval then a walk along the Vasco Da Gama quay is facsinating, as they have inlaid brass/bronze? map of the world with all his calculations and bearings taken, overlaid with the actual modern ones. Show how brilliant he was
If you get the chance go just out of town to look at some of the preserved Lines of Torres Vedras

There is another military museum just near the tower of Belem, based on contemporary wars! |

Tanks for all the useful informations and the link to the other TMP discussion I had missed. I must see what I can fit in my travel plans. Navy and Army Museum seems to be very interresting. |
