In 15mm, for TSATF Horror, and Chaos in Cairo gaming. Have tons of figures and surface terrain, want a real, old skool dungeon crawl. What should I do? I want modular, with playability and adaptation the keys. Since it's 15mm, I may be able to use foamboard as the basis, eh?

What about the Hirst (sp?) arts molds? Being that it is Egyptian themed, the size of the hieroglyphics souls look good in 15mm as well as 28mm. |

I don't want to mess with Hirst in 15mm. In 28mm, sure. But not in 15mm. |

Hirst arts makes Egyptian molds and the 1" tiles work fine with 15mm figs |

This is probably only a minor source of inspiration at best, but issue 4 of Croc Tales (Crocodile Games' free webzine for the Wargods of Such-and-Such setting) has an interesting little scenery-building article (a Basti shrine) with a few interesting tricks, especially for making floors and hieroglyph-adorned walls. Just thought I'd point it out as I happened to be browsing the Croc Tales webzines the other day, so they were fresh in my mind when I saw this thread. link |

Here's an idea
Get a few sheets of thick foam insulation
the heavy commercial grade that is about 6 inches thick. Stack up the sheets and cut out a pyramid. Then using a foam cutter and sharp knife
cut out corridors and rooms in each sheet. You could even use corridor and room layouts in actual pyramids as a pattern. That way your crawl has three dimensions. Also worth noting that Scotia Grendal has some great Egyptian resin pieces in their historical and fantasy ranges
they're scaled at 28mm but many would work for 15mm scale as well. See, link |

There's Egyptian-like Styrofoam bricks available at the big craft stores (well, Michaels) in the kids' hobby section, usually with the Woodlands Scenics water kits and trees. Using those 40% off coupons for a few weeks in a row should get you a good supply of them. There's also an Egyptian Toob that has some statues etc. |

I really like this look, with columns and all sorts of other things
So I've been cutting lots of 30mm cork strips for such a purpose

A lot of the tombs we visited in the Valley of the Kings were very surprising ( to me) in that the hieroglyphs were in B&W. Fairly small also. From a distance they formed (to my eyes) a series of broken vertical lines. |

I printed out Egyptian walls and pasted them on pink board for my Mummy game
worked pretty well

I hope my wall paintings end up something like this product, but more faded:

Some of the hirst arts stuff would work, some wouldn't. The statues and some of the wall engravings should work great and the floor tiles. The posterboard walls are a great idea. CC those are great links! Thank you! Smokey, I have most of the Egyptian hirst molds, so if you want some specific pieces I can send them to you. |

I really wish someone would make thin (5mm) resin casts of something like this:
Maximum height should be no more than 35mm, and max width of 30mm, with a 20mm width for the opening. And this one with a maximum height of 35mm, max width of 60mm, with a 40mm-wide opening:

Found a idea! Bought a grill at Home Depot today. They have free wooden plank flooring, that are cut to uniform size (3" by 6") and lock together at the ends. Heavy, hard, thin foam bottom lining that won't slide on any surface. Would be great6 for 28mm, but really, 3" is too wide for most 15mm applications as hallways, and no side locking makes rooms sideoffs difficult. Great help here, guys, thanks!

Also saw some high grade, oak planks 2 feet long, 1/4 inch wide, 1 inch high. Not expensive, and would make ultra sturdy bases and walls, just have to line them and add floor tiles?

Awesome. Show us what you make, please. Also, after quite some time looking, I found an even better example of what a typical underground Egyptian tomb doorway should look like. It's from the "tomb of Kitines":

Another idea for the walls. My wife is an avid "stamper" and a few years back, while on a trip to Michael's I discovered a back of Egyptian stamps that can be used to decorate the walls of a dungeon/temple. |

The hardest part is the cornice of the doorway. That's the "flaring" part with the Horus Behdety (winged sun disk) seen here:
As for the rest of the door, I guess I can wing it. :) Dan |

OK, for the base and walls, trying Home Depot Yardsticks. Fitty Cent a piece, easy to cut and sand, right height and width, just coat with spackle paint, and stonework, floor tiles. Might work. |
