I have tried for weeks now to sell my well painted Chaos Mortal army for Warhammer Fantasy along with extra primed and bare metal. Included is a ton of old models in metal that I thought would be a hot property. However, even with listing them twice here on TMP and on Bartertown and breaking up the collection into separate units and individual models, as well as offering trade for 15mm Science Fiction and/or 28mm WW II, I have gotten zip in terms of response. Is the Chaos Mortal army out of favor in the current edition of Warhammer? (note I stop playing several years ago and more than two editions back) Is there not a market anymore for the older models? I do not think I am asking too much for what I have and the quality. I am not upset just curious if I am marketing them wrong or if I am trying to sell at the wrong time. Thoughts? |

Selling anything is sometimes just a matter of timing. I have listed items numerous times on auction sites and then suddenly there is a bidding war. Just keep listing. |

Second hand GW doesn't seem to be selling lately, painted usually sells for less than unpainted. Most GW gamers now only want plastic. Put it on ebay by unit, put the older stuff on individually. |

Like Uruk Hai says, it's a matter of timing
selling when someone is looking. Just yesterday I bought a big old Orc army, all metal
and there was a bit of a bidding battle over it. Maybe make mention of your figs on the Oldhammer site where guys are into older versions of the rules and miniatures
not the 'new hotness' turn-a-ment crowd. I myself favor Chaos mortals
lots and lots of Thugs, Marauders and Warriors in my army compared to demons and whatnot. I like the idea of a wild array of cultists from across the multiverse. Then again, I'm solidly stuck into 2nd/3rd edition. |

You might get more offers for some of the older models if it was clearer which ones they are. Separate them out and take some shots where they're not in one big greyish mob. Also, look at the prices things have sold for (not at the prices being asked) on eBay. You're asking for $50 USD for Arbaal, but he sells for a lot less than that. Given that he's not currently a character in the game, and has a distinctly '90s style, he'd have to be a pretty spectacular paint job to get that high a price. Personally, I only buy unpainted models, or ones that I intend to strip to paint myself. Wth that in mind, those Chaos Warrior units, with what appears to be a fairly basic paint job in your photos, would be way too expensive at $10 USD a model. Jes Goodwin's Champions aside, some of which can sell for quite a bit, Chaos Warriors generally go for a lot less than that. |

Yeah, I'm another who prefers stripped/unpainted. Even a half-decent paint job is gonna go straight into the Simple Green. I like painting and putting my own touch on my figures. Over the entire time I've been buying used minis I've only left a handful with their original paintjob. So if you're charging more because they're painted
yeah, I'd probably pass them over too. |

Thanks gang and yes the paint job on the Arbaal figure is pretty darn good. Ah well I suppose they will just be stored away for awhile. |

I went ahead and joined Oldhammer. What a nice forum for us old salts of the by gone days! Posted an updated list and some changes in prices plus put in a note that I would accept reasonable offers. |

I'm looking for a 20 metal beastmen unit and a 10-12 metal chaos warriors unit. If you are interestes in selling that please send me a PM. Cheers, |

Is there also a "Middlehammer" forum, for c. 6th edition
? |

Skeptic, I would like to know that as well. I was happy with 6th and felt it was the best version to date. 7th was OK except GW began to nerf certain armies. 8th is complete junk in my opinion. I know there are a number of players who think it is the best; however, from what I have seen it has become Monsterhammer. To each their own I just have lost all interest in the fantasy version of the game and it is hard to find players who want to go with playing 6th or earlier editions. Now I still enjoy Warhammer Ancients and its other historical versions such as Warhammer ECW and Warhammer Shieldwall. @blacksmith, I have 20 metal old school Beastmen but they are some of my favorite miniatures for fantasy and still make wonderful evil humanoids for my Pathfinder group to deal with. I would have a tough time letting those go. I appreciate the offer on the Chaos Warriors but think I am going to hold on to everything at this point until I can get a better deal on them. Thanks |

Good luck on selling your figures. I had a an old school Warriors of Chaos army that wouldn't move. I finally traded it for a Warmachine Protectorate of Menoth army. The guy was going to strip most of the figures. Anyway, it was a fair trade. I don't know what I would have gotten for my Warriors of Chaos if I hadn't traded them. Anyway, I've given up on WHFB 8th edition. I still have a large High Elf army. But I'm keeping my Elves for another generic fantasy system we play here locally. I didn't like the magic and the "Monsterhammer" aspect of the game, so I gave it up. But my brother still plays 8th edition WHFB with his Ogre Kingdom and Chaos Dwarfs. |

Monsterhammer? Seems to my group currently that monsters are little more than cannon bait in the current edition, with the fairly reasonable chance that you can one-shot an expensive monster with a cheap cannon
and we LIKE the current edition :) |
