I have walked the fields, read the journals, and I am still no nearer knowing how it happened. I love the Hampshire air though. Happy Anniversary. Salute |

Amen to that. My local battlefield, and perhaps my favourite ECW battle. certainly one of the most intriguing. I've refought it many times, and skirted it on the A274. A beautiful drive. |

John Dixon's book 'The Unfortunate Battaile of Alresforde' is worth reading. ISBN: 978-1-85818-644-3 It could have done with better proof reading but that doesn't detract too much from the content. |

My local battlefield, and perhaps my favourite ECW battle. Damn, nearly forgot it this year, the shame. Where's Cap'n DEwell when he is required? Fat Wally your two comments apply to me as well. As much as can so as I am in central California. I hope some glasses were raised at the pub in New Alresford today. @heyjoe: I have walked the fields, read the journals, and I am still no nearer knowing how it happened. I love the Hampshire air though. Same here, even managed to get lost in the lanes a couple of times. It's only about a mile south from the old marketplace in New Alresford, how could one get lost? I know the Cap'n does a hadj to Cheriton on occasion, perhaps he did so today. I'll leave him a here for the toast. Happy Anniversary. Salute Cheers all, |

Cap'n: The anniversary of the Battle of Cheriton
That is a very compelling figure, scale
54mm, 90mm? Is it still available at retail somewhere? Cheers, |

Indeed it is still available. The one shown above is mine and mighty pleased I am with it. Capitán Alatriste , 1625. Andrea Europe, Series General 54 mm 1/32. link Go on, treat yourself. You know you want to. Especially, as you've walked the walk at Cherry Towne. |

I re-fought Cheriton early last week using my 40mm ECW collection, the game report was posted on my blog link |

I was present at the anniversary reenactment a few years back Richard Holmes did the commentary. Not that I heard a great deal of it as I was out on the field with the Parliament Musket. The field is isn't too badly built over and deserves a good field mapping similar to the one carried out a Naseby. |
