Heroscape: Road to the Forgotten Forest

It's a terrain expansion for Heroscape, but will non-Heroscape gamers be attracted by the trees?

Nah. Just a rather attractive female with a couple of fake wings stuck on her back for effect. Not a real fairy at all …

tberry740328 Mar 2014 3:57 p.m. PST

And she doesn't look very happy.

Larry R28 Mar 2014 5:06 p.m. PST

Yeah too much hips to fly

Redcurrant28 Mar 2014 5:43 p.m. PST

With wings, hips and boobs that size she is not going to get off the ground.

dBerczerk28 Mar 2014 5:49 p.m. PST

She may not get airborne, but it would be quite inspirational observing her attempt.

Come on Tango. Use some common sense a bit. Why post this on a wargaming forum? All it will do is stir up hate against anyone who thinks a non-aerodynamic fairy can fly. I've seen this happen way too many times here on TMP.

Wings ? Sorry didn't notice them the first time I looked

She does look a little pale

Redcurrant, give her a little credit for wearing minimal clothing to keep her weight down, making it easier for her to fly.

This one can fly (I saw it in the movies) & there's not that much difference in wing size & body heft.

This would make a lovely figure to paint and use in a miniature game.

Yes, but that one really does belong on the Needs More Boobies Board.

I read somewhere that, according to the principles of fixed-wing aerodynamics, a bumblebee's wings should not be able to keep it airborne.
Luckily, bumblebees are unaware of this and continue to fly happily from flower to flower.
Fairies probably enjoy a similar state of blissful ignorance!

abdul666lw30 Mar 2014 1:13 p.m. PST

She would not fly because she lacks the powerful pectoral muscles (often mistaken for boobies) powering the wings .
This one would fly:

(from TMP link : thanks -who else?- Armand).

Pixie Dust is what provides the lift. The wings are just for propulsion and steering.

Fairies are not human creatures though they may look like them. They are primarily of the spirit world and hence the science of aerodynamics is not applicable to them.

Spirits, even creatures only partially "spirit" can appear to us as they wish and please and can seem quite real to us. This does not mean that they are mere hypnotic or illusionist tricks. Being only partially material beings then can appear in a wide variety of forms, all depending on circumstance, need, and purpose. Thus the fairy on the rock at top could appear as the classic "tinkerbell" type in center, or the X rated tinkerbell at bottom.

The means of locomotion of a fairy may be what appears to be flying to us, especially when they must cause we humans who have no ability to fly with them, in which case to support the illusion and make our own willingness to accept and trust we are flying, we see wings. On the other hand, they can travel instantaneously here there and anywhere as is their need, on a separate plane of existence.

The appearance of the fairy may also vary with need. When it is important that we accept and interact with them in a non-fearful state, it may be as the classic tinkerbell which invokes feeling of protection, paternalism, curiosity and concern. If some sort of romantic or sexual attraction is necessary, obviousl the porn princess fairy at bottom will certainly entice us to do what they wish.

On the other hand the "fairy on the rock" at top is a much different thing. While obviously adopting the form of a beautiful woman, the pose is not overtly sexual, but it is striking and majestic, and the face invokes strength, concern and friendliness. Take off the wings and one very might be seeing Brunnhilda on her rock just after we have broken through the ring of sacred fire. The wings there fore are not there for THEM, they are there for us to clearly identify what they are and what we are dealing with. Spirits could appear completely human with no wings at all if that is their purpose.
