I've read Nostromo and Cabbages and Kings and a bunch of other fiction. Now I'm looking for somethings that are non-fiction. It can be about any aspect of the period and region. US trade with South/Central American countries, revolutions, internal policies, national policies. Looking mostly from about 1890-1910. |

I'd recommend this book by Frederick Funston about his participation in the Cuban battle for independance from Spain. Once the US goes to war with Spain he joins the US Army and goes to the Phillippines to Fight the Spanish and the Filipino insurgency. link |

Wars of Latin America, 1899-1941-Pedraja. Avail as an expensive and large Trade PB, also avail as a Kindle book and probably a NOOK epub too
and cheaper. Reading it now and it speaks almost directly to what you are asking. Very large, detailed (though the unit, OB info could be much better) and covers every conflict in the time frame mentioned that was ruled by the Mauser. The 2nd volume starts with the advent of airpower & reconn, along with the greater affect and participation of artillery. |

'The Banana Wars'. I don't know the author's name, but it's been in the local library for many years – so probably sold off in a library sale by now. |

"Banana Wars" is by Ivan Mendicant (if I spelt that right), its an excellent book but is mostly after Pictors' choosen time frame. Still, I'd recommend it. |
