Is it me, but I can't access the website. I can't see your pictures either.

It's that late-war Canadian super weapon — they got to field a handful in the last few weeks of the war!

@MiniMo;

Did we? Where did yu find this out? id' love to be able to field one for wargaming. There's a nice one from Canadian manufacturer RAFM.

@Spontoon

Eek, sorry for the exceedingly late reply! Just stumbled back upon this thread and spotted your query.

The Staghound In Canadian Service, Roger V. Lucy, p.20: 12th Manitoba Dragoons received their first Staghound IIIs on 20 April 1945, and their full complement of 12 at the end of May. 2 for each Squadron's Heavy Troop, and 4 for Regimental HQ.

@ MiniMo;

I wonder if they saw any real action? I believe there was a Polish armoured unit with some as well.

Very possibly, they did!

18th Manitoba Dragoons was awarded a battle honour for Bad Zwischenahn, 23 April – 5 May, 1945: link

In related news, to date the bulk of my WW2 gaming has been with HO figures, but I've recently gotten suckered into doing up some 28s to join in Bolt Action games at the local club. I've just started work on a small force of the 12th Manitobans. Have a few figures on hand that I just started trimming tonight. And this afternoon ordered a bunch of stuff.

Getting a White Scout Car and a Staghound I from JFTM. And Jeff sells the turrets separately on request, so I'm also getting a Staghound III turret that I can swap in as needed. He also mentioned that he's working on Canadian-specific vehicles, so I'm hoping for an actual Ford Lynx and an armoured Chevy 4X4 15cwt truck!

For the bulk of the infantry of an Assault Troop, I ordered a Westwind platoon pack, and extra packages of heads with paratrooper helmets and berets to swap in. These are armoured corps type troops, so they will get the RAC helmet and black berets.

I'll put a blog post up when I have some finished work to show.
