What is your least favorite mini part to paint? I hate painting chin straps and and practically incapable of painting glasses. |
John the OFM | 27 Mar 2014 7:23 p.m. PST |
White straps. AWI, FIW, Nappies, you name it. I hate white straps. |

John, You're right about white straps. Maybe straps in general are awful. I often slip off the strap and paint over the other color. This makes me say bad words. |

Collars and cuffs, then straps. |

Highlanders hat bands and socks. I'll paint tartan all day compared to those annoying pieces. |

On individual figures, flesh. On ships, in particular 1/2400 and smaller, decks. |

Checks dreadful, plaid is a little bit better. I can sometimes achieve mediocrity on stripes, after much practice. Grelber |

Seconded. I used to wonder why I had so many infantry-heavy armies. Then I realized, wait, I hate painting horses. |

Horses, I hate painting horses. I also hate painting checked cloth. So you can imagine how much I love painting Gallic cavalry
. White straps are OK over the right base colour – over blue/red, awful. Over khaki, just fab. |

Gun teams & limbers. Fiddly spoked wheels, lots of horse harnesses, and the whole thing is just a status marker. |

I hate painting the testicles. |

I'm also hate painting horses. Why do I choose Eastern European Renaissance then where many armies are 75% mounted? |

- Shields - Those wrappy things around the shins (can't remember what they are called) - Roman sandals - Napoleonic/AWI canteens |

I would the most depressing part on a mini to paint: faces. I've been trying to paint them since the mid 70s and I still can't get them right. It doesn't really matter what scale either. |

I don't mind painting any of it. What I mind is that I am not good at any of it even after 30 years. Thankfully my eyesight is not what is was soviet don't notice the missed bits. :-( |

Horses and white straps. Doing Mexican War, you get boatloads of both. It may be why most of my units are at 85% completed. |

Spoked wheels particularly, and artillery pieces in general. I really enjoy painting horses (ducks and runs for cover). |
Martin Rapier | 29 Mar 2014 2:37 a.m. PST |
I am amazed how many people don't like painting spoked wheels, I can't imagine what the problem is. Put paint on big brush, slap all over wheel. Job done. Or are you painting the spokes different colours? Eyes I can understand, which is why I don't bother on wargaming pieces. |

I'm a second with 15mm Napoleonic artillery wheels, and I'm working on a big batch of them. |
