Nyah, nyah. I read the books.

I'm just wondering how long John Snow will stay dead. All stabby-stabby like he is, ya know.

And does dying (even if brought back by Melisandre) mean "his watch is ended" and he is ethically free to leave the Nights Watch?

Granted, given that he was leaving anyway (hence the stabby-stabby), I guess he wouldn't care, but if he's going to be Lord John Stark it would make a difference.

And I really think GRRM was originally planning (hoping) to write a trilogy, not this 8-9 book saga.

I think he intended Daenarys to come sweeping back to Westeros in Book 3 for the grand conclusion, but when the first book took off and the money started rolling in, oh-HO, it's actually six…er…EIGHT! EIGHT books!

Hence Daenarys' lengthy, pointless wanderings.

So we have six books of her wandering around, eventually deciding "You know, I should go back to the Dothraki. Where I started in Book-freaking-One!."

Grr.

I KNEW IT!

When you are writing basically to please yourself, and not to an HBO set deadline, you can indulge your "Gee, I wonder what's happening in the Iron Islands? Shouldn't I pay more attention to Dorne?" wishes.

Yeah, I think Jon's "watch is ended". He can now join his Aunt Danaerys

and cousin Aegon* riding dragons. As soon as he discovers that Jeyne is not Arya, he can fly north and vaporize Others with dragon breath.

* Or maybe his cousin Tyrion…

Or would they be his uncles?

I kinda hope Tyrion isn't a Targaryn. I see where they get that idea from the citations, but that would really take away from the Tywin-Tyrion relationship, as well as from his relationship to his "siblings". Undermines all their loathing, especially Tywin's.

It would also diminish the value of the Targaryns. "And yes, here's ANOTHER Targaryn!"

Aegon still alive.
Jon – Targaryn.
Tyrion – Targaryn.
Roose Bolton – Targaryn.
The merchant who recognized Jaime Lannister on the road – Targaryn.
A few characters Martin hasn't introduced yet and may kill off – Targaryn.
