Well Ladies and Gentlemen, Sir Nicholas of the Northstar Miniatures Works has asked us to enlist the aid of all our stalwart friends in choosing a suitable company for his splendid sculptors to work on. We have created a shortlist of just ten companies from across the IHMN world, and would like you to indicate by ballot, which you would most like to see immortalised in pewter. Note that Sir Nick shall have the final say, but would find it hard to deny a worthy winner. You have one week to cast your ballots

only one choice Craig! That's harsh, theres 4 on there that are only separable for me by hairs breadths. U-Troop, The North-West Mounted Police [HVF: Sasquatch] The Tippoo Sultan [SDRS: Indian madman with Clockwork Tigers] Le Cabinet Noir [IHMN: French Secret Service] Imperial Japanese Army – Kyoto Company [SDRS: Japanese Princess] and the other six are only just a second place, we needs em all I say! :) |
Craig Cartmell | 26 Mar 2014 1:20 p.m. PST |
Well Le Cabinet Noir is in an early lead, with the Tippoo Sultan and U-Troop in close pursuit

SteelPenguin said it ! Tippoo Sultan for me |

How is there still no Captain Nemo band? Plenty of Imperialism to fight against in IHMN. |

Le Cabinet Noir! My second would be the Okhrana, and third, the Imperial Japanese Army. We need more than 'just' the British and the Prussians/Germans as Imperial Powers. |

The Kentish Men for me! (Although I have been scouting various manufacturer's webpages to piece together a band ever since said company was published). Would also like to see the The Tippoo Sultan, Brotherhood of the Serpent, and either Le Cabinet Noir or the Okhrana. (It depends on the composition of Le Cabinet Noir. If it's like the French equivalent of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen mentioned at the end of the 2nd volume of the graphic novel, then yes. Otherwise, the Okhrana. Besides, at some point I'll want to assemble La Legion! That will take care of representing France at the very least.) Although, what about Mars, with its dusky princesses and four armed fighting men? Ruined cities being slowly buried in red sand as the canals fail, and the decadent descendants squabble among themselves, squandering the technologies of their ancestors. A company or three for Mars would not go amiss. And the same can be said for the raw primeval savagery that is the youthful Venus, teeming with life red in tooth and claw. Small tribal bands trying to tame the wildlife and the treacheries of the neighbors as they take the first feeble steps towards civilization. |

One of the things we tried to avoid in the list are companies that can easily be created using existing figures from Northstar and other fine manufacturers. Also they had to be companies that are listed in the books or the blog. So no Martians I am afraid AH as these are not in the books and well catered for by other manufacturers. As for Nemo Autos we have avoided using copyrighted characters in the books (though not on the blog). However, the new book, Sleeping Dragon Rising Sun has many anti-imperial forces from India and China. |

They all sound good but I've gone for the Templers. |

I voted for the Okhrana, but so many good choices

I'd plump for the chaps that you can't get elsewhere first. The French secret service sound interesting. |

Any chance I can vote for "all"? |
TheBeast | 27 Mar 2014 10:21 a.m. PST |
Ha! IHMN is all about bold, decisive men and women! Women and men unafraid of choices! Who can speak firmly! At least, I think that what's is about. Well, that, and maybe, fun. Of course, there's also

A vote for the Templars – had too, as bro-in-law did a book on the PoS :o) |

Mr. Cartmell: Thanks for the reply. With that explanation, permit me to suggest that the new book be supported by at least two companies. Tippoo Sultan is leading currently so that's one, and at poll's end another SDRS company may achieve enough votes for consideration. Being able to present both the book and new companies from that book simultaneously ought to strengthen sales. @autos da fe: Westwind Miniatures has Capt. Nemo and crew: link Although I'd use the Ironclad Miniatures Capt. Nemo instead and demote the Westwind one to First Mate. link |

Looks like the election returns for an Italian parliament. Nobody gets more than 20% and everybody gets at least five. |
NickNorthStar | 28 Mar 2014 12:18 p.m. PST |
Gosh, before this poll we were advised to do the US Marines, but they seem to be quite low. I thought the Kentish Men would be higher as well. Good poll. Nick |
Craig Cartmell | 29 Mar 2014 3:28 a.m. PST |
I thought that the USMC would rate higher too, but it looks like our French comrades are voting in heaps :) |

Well Ladies and Gentlemen the poll has closed. You can view the results here: link |

As for Nemo we have avoided using copyrighted characters in the books The Nemo written about by Jules Verne, who piloted a ship under the ocean, is well into the public domain. The Nemo who was a little orange fish probably never will be. It was former I was in favour of. |
