Okay something just happened. The 'wish' list thread just disappeared? Anyway here's my list.
…………………………………………

I second this 25mm ACW wish with 3 cheers!

"Draft animals, ACW Federal cavalry in sack coats, Federal artillery in sack coats. US&CS ambulances and medical service folks."

Yeeesssssssss! I want them too. One note about the ambulances… all should be FOUR wheeled NOT two!

My ACW list includes:

--dead horses (cav horse & artillery limber horses)

--normal run-of-the mill small dogs to use as mascots. I don't want wolves & German Shepherds or any other big guard dog breeds. Just small and medium sized mutts. One pack will do with a variety of looks.

--Junior officers reading maps, writing stuff, delivering messages and directing something etc. Both mounted and dismounted.

--Ordnance wagons with boxes of small arms ammo with men taking boxes off etc.

--A sutler wagon

--heavy artillery carriages for transporting big field/siege guns (and the guns to go with them of course). I'm referring to the 30 lbs. Parrotts for example which were used from time to time: Fredricksburg for example

--a model… just one of Corp. Ben Crippen holding the US colors while shaking his fist at the approaching Rebs.

---Gen. Custer leading his Michigan brigade in the charge at Gettysburg.

--Gen. Sickles wounded on a stretcher being carried off the field at Gettysburg propped up on one elbow smoking a cigar. That would be COOL!

--Artillery officers shouting at the tops of their lungs orders to the artillerymen

--The Perrys now sell metal limber horses standing to go with their plastic artillery box. I urge everyone to buy them if you buy the plastic box set. Now we need a metal set with horses kicking/screaming/bucking and stumbling while getting hit. Some horses down already and the crew cutting them out of their traces and an artilleryman shooting a horse in the head to put him out of his misery so they can cut him out. Basically horses under fire at every battle.

That's a nice list for starters. :)

"Who ever saw a dead cavalryman?"

Pictors Studio25 Mar 2014 11:38 a.m. PST

I'd love a set of casualties. Ideally they would be ACW soldiers who were killed while in costume doing a play of various events from the Carlist Wars.

d effinger25 Mar 2014 11:41 a.m. PST

Scott,

Errrrr… in costume?! Errrr…. no. You are getting mighty silly now. :)

Let's just say they would be really realistic costumes of soldiers from the Carlist Wars.

Disco Joe25 Mar 2014 12:12 p.m. PST

ACW mortars and crews. Yes I know the coehorn and 13 inch ones have been released but how about all the others in between and of cours union and confederate crews to go with them.
A gatling gun and crew working it.
Union western theater figures with a mix of hats and kepis.
Off the wall artillery pieces that were used but currently are not available.
Early war state militia units for both union and confederates in early war uniforms and head gear.

Canvas top for Perry's wagon.

"-Junior officers reading maps, writing stuff, delivering messages and directing something etc. Both mounted and dismounted."

Seconded….I am looking into a new result that tracks orders and having some staff officers to carry them would be great!

"Early war state militia units for both union and confederates in early war uniforms and head gear."

As I have, after 20 years of 'planning', launched my 1861 project, yeah, I could use those!!

"A gatling gun and crew working it. "

Wargames foundry has one

"Union western theater figures"

Sash and Saber releasing soon!!!!

I'd like to see figures armed with Sharps/Spencer/Henry rifles. Better Horses, many horses are way undersized and some if them are in just horrible poses. The horses in the old Airfix sets are so much better than 80% of the 28mm horses today. (This crosses eras. Many of the horses in plastic sets, like Conquest and Perry are so much better than most metal.)

Ghost6, I saw the gun but where is the crew for it? You can't use a standard artillery crew to be firing the gun.

I was not aware Gatlings saw service?

Disco Joe25 Mar 2014 7:00 p.m. PST

They did but it was very limited. I heard they were with the union at Petersburg.

jowady25 Mar 2014 8:34 p.m. PST

I believe that Butler bought two for the Army of the James at Bermuda Hundred. To say that they saw service at Petersburg is kind of giving the false impression that they were common. I think that a few were used on gun boats but the Gatling wasn't adopted by the US until 1866.

Disco Joe26 Mar 2014 3:43 a.m. PST

No it does not give the impression that they were common. If I would have stated that they fought or were used in a number of battles then that would have given the impression that they were common and I never stated that. Also keep in mind the title of the topic is ACW wish list and not the ACW commonly used wish list.

Easy now, friends, it's been a long winter for all of us!

ACW Gamer26 Mar 2014 5:17 a.m. PST

Disco Joe, you are right, in the publicity pictures Foundry used normal artillery crews.

ACW Gamer26 Mar 2014 5:18 a.m. PST

FireZouave, you are darn tootin'. It snowed again last night.

Byrhthelm26 Mar 2014 6:40 a.m. PST

Steve Barber Figures have been extremely useful and helpful. Their figures arrive in four parts (for RSS anyhow) legs, torsos, heads and right arm with rifle. Steve will pack as per request. My most recent order was for Federal infantry in sack coats (the skirts molded on the legs) and with hats rather than forage caps. I now have four regiments suitable for Western theatre.
Okay it's a bit of a pain putting the figures together, but once assembled they are very nice figures, somewhere between Perry's metals and 1st Corps in height and heft, and I have no hesitation in puting them all on the same table, in fact not much hesitation in putting a couple of Perry's command figures in a Barber regt, just for the sake of variety.

ACW Gamer26 Mar 2014 8:12 a.m. PST

Byrhthelm, I have to second Steve's willingness to help to gamers. I requested Early War suitable figures and Steve packed up a regiment for me. Redoubt was also willing to pick out early war figures for me as well.

The $ to buy a 25/28mm ACW army or a proposal for the "board" on why I need a 25/28mm ACW army as well as the 15mm ones I have already…..

ACW Gamer26 Mar 2014 7:55 p.m. PST

Benvartok…..your doctor believes that painting a new 25/28mm ACW will reduce your eye strain. The doctor said you can keep the 15s because they are already painted.

uglyfatbloke27 Mar 2014 8:32 a.m. PST

You should buy 28mm armies ;cos it's the right thing to do.
My wife persuaded me that we should change our 15s for 28s about five or six years ago…never regretted it.

GoodOldRebel22 Apr 2014 4:53 a.m. PST

A comprehensive range of mounted infantry, suitable for infantry regiments mounted to improve their range and mobility (but essentially still infantry soldiers) as well as Forrest's and Shelby's men …armed with muskets AND pistols, so cavalry able to fight like infantry when dismounted.

Figures suitable to portray the Indian troops, both union and confederate that fought in the Indian territory, Arkansas and Missouri?

I'd also like to add my call to those asking for couriers/staff officers …I really like this idea and think it would look great on the table-top.

Some nicely animated standard bearers …and the odd officer in suitably dramatic pose! Who hasn't read numerous accounts of this officer or that heroically grabbing a unit's oolours' during some crisis point…usually with fatal results?
