I just finished the third boat and this time a converted side wheeler, taken into Dervish service and named the Kadesh. Can't wait to get it into action. I hope you enjoy the write up on the building of the Kadesh.

I've had a side-wheeler on hold for …err…over 20 years now, because I couldn't figure out how to do the paddles- your idea is brilliant!

Great build and very informative. Thanks for sharing.

NIce model. I chose to go the commercial route and bought mine from Old Glory 25s (but in 15 mm). You can't beat a well created scratch build but for the rest of us Merrimack (now Old Glory) just can't be beat – especially for variety of options. Check them out next time you visit Old Glory.

Or get out the raw materials and tools and get busy. Again, nice model.

Awesome model. What did you use to make the wood plank look?

Great stuff.

I plan to unleash my steam paddleboat (based on a Nile steamer) this summer.

(It's RC, and hoepfully will float when not used for gaming)

Xintao – the planking is simply lightly scoring basswood with an Xacto blade and then using a light oak wood stain.

Smokeyroan – please send pictures of your RC model. I have always dreamed about building some ironclads to float at the local RC boat club. Never have built a wooden floating model yet.
