Was wondering if anyone is aware of anyone producing laser cut MDF terrain tiles with various textures. Mostly for use in SCiFI. Thinking about making a bunker for Infinity, rather than trying to make my own, was wondering if there is anything out there I could use for floors. Hex patterns, steel grate floors, some exotic scifi flooring you would see in abunker or space ship. Would like for it to come in squares and just glue it to magnetized boards for easy transportation. |

I was working on something that would fit the bill but it turned out to be too expensive to be marketable. I am trying to figure out the best way to texture styrene so I can expand on the offerings of plastruct and evergreen with scifi and fantasy stuff aimed at gamers but so far nothing has panned out. Other then just etching it. |

The Finger and Toe paper SciFi is perfect for this. Just cut and paste what you need and print all you want. I have a set (it was really cheap) and I use it as a source for doors, platforms, floors etc.etc. |

I've seen some other stuff, if it's helpful. One place was on Combat Wombat, and I think the other was Shapeways. I guess that would be resin and plastic, not MDF, but both were interesting. The CW stuff (Star Fortress) is actually the exterior greebled surface. link The Shapeways stuff is a variety of different floor tiles. Here's one kind: link Again, not MDF but possibly useful. They're both on sites I search almost daily for inspiration or ideas. |

Thanks everyone. Seeing a lack of the stuff I am really looking for made me want to get back to work on my Vacuform I started building. Make my own tole floor tiles from styrene and various parts, glue them to a 1/8 inch MDF board then vacuform it. I own a scroll saw, table router and a lot of other tools. I will be able to make a lot of the curved details I want for a scifi floor. for example
I wonder how well a vac u form will take the detail from styrene sheets from plastruct or others? |
