link No big details yet, but 1.1 Earth radii, M1 dwarf star, habitable zone orbit
have we found our alien overlords? Better launch a pre-emptive strike! (Well, on the tabletop anyway). (Yes, I also posted this in the Plus Science board for more serious discussion, but some of y'all don't look there, and this board is for gaming considerations, right?) So, what would Earth 1.1 be like? What sort of alien vict
I mean "potential allies and friendly natives" be like? Would the dwarf nature of their star have any implications? How about the very slight increased radius (about 10%)? Wait
slightly heavier planet/greater gravity, dwarf star— clearly, we've just found the Squat home world! |

I got dibs on the coniferous forested region that is closest to the Pacific Northwest! What do you mean, "But, sir, the apex predator is meaner than a Grizzly and four times as big?!" You slackers! I told you to bring along RPGs, not dinky-ass assault rifles! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net

Hard to say – the gravity would argue for a possibly heavier atmosphere, which would imply a warmer world than Earth. Anything more depends on data we do not as yet have – composition of planet and atmosphere if any, rotation and so forth. But it's the best bet so far for an Earthlike world, if "Like" is given a broad definition :) |

Oh, and I like what Covert Walrus brought up on the Science board— the dwarf star could mean an alteration in the coloration of plant life from the green we know. So, depending on which end of the spectrum that alteration tends towards, your bizarro tabletop plants painted red, orange and yellow (or blue and purple) have a real home to point to! |

Yeah
but we still don't have a viable technology to get there
Unless the Grays let us catch a ride with them

From what I read is that red dwarf stars sometimes give off large flashes of radiation. So while a planet having to be closer to the star for heat and light for life the radiation bursts are very dangerous for it. |
