GW is renaming the Imperial Guard so that they can copyright it. What we know as the IG is now 'Astra Militarum,' and a new elite all-Storm Troopers army will be called "Militarum Tempestus": link |
darthfozzywig | 24 Mar 2014 4:20 p.m. PST |
They've also banned all previous "Imperial Guard" miniatures from official GW tournaments. (kidding)

No I have an Imperial Guard Combined Arms Company. Oh and I see that they are going for the gouging of their customers again with making Storm Troopers being a seperate Codex that is online only. But will still cost you around $55. USD |
Stryderg | 24 Mar 2014 7:53 p.m. PST |
The codex is online only, hardback, and 72 pages. That's a neat trick. |

I keep having these fantasies of playing 40K again. Then I hear about these shenanigans and I go back to World of Warcraft

At last count, I believe I have about 65 Kasrkins. Never paid more than my price point of $2 USD per figure for any of them. Looks like I may get to paint them up cohesively as an army in itself after all! First I want to SEE the codex to find out if it is even a viable force, or if I am wasting my time, so
no. I will not *BUY* a codex for them. |
SouthernPhantom | 25 Mar 2014 7:12 a.m. PST |
Yeah, I have an Imperial Guard Air Cavalry reinforced platoon. 637th Dexun Independent Air Assault Battalion- none of this 'Astra Militarum' nonsense. |
Dentatus | 25 Mar 2014 7:17 a.m. PST |
I barely even look up at news of the latest GW shenanigans. I do like the metal Kasrkins tho. P'rhaps I'd better scarf some up before they hit the 'Metal OOP! Extremely RARE, $10 USD per' stage. |

I just don't know why people keep playing their games and buying their stuff. Its on record they don't give a stuff about gamers and treat their customers with contempt. I think anyone who spends money with a company like that is
. well that would just be impolite to say. Lets just say they are a special kind of person. |

I have a pretty large Imperial Guard army – about 7000 points (lots of big, big tanks) but also I have two squads of stormtroopers |
Delta Vee | 25 Mar 2014 1:01 p.m. PST |
nope I have an "imperial army" force, im still hoping to get enough of them to be able to field white shield squads, ( you know the ones that are immune psychology and have 4 las cannon per squad) and some human bombs and beastman units. with grav and hover support and rino transports for the normal troops and Land Raiders for the important ones, oh and assault troops with flight/ jump packs |
The Gray Ghost | 25 Mar 2014 3:13 p.m. PST |
Just a handful of older metal figures |
Baconfat | 25 Mar 2014 6:39 p.m. PST |
I have quite alot of IG too, easily 9 square feet painted, packed together on shelves. They never play 40K, it's too silly |

"Oh and I see that they are going for the gouging of their customers again with making Storm Troopers being a seperate Codex that is online only." Um
no. Stormtroopers are still a squad option in the upcoming AM codex, and the new Stormtrooper/Commissar specific codex is a physical book priced as most other codexes, S49.50. I'll be ordering it from my store this weekend. So wrong on pretty much every count. |

thank you gents ( bows humbly) BWP im good for rhinos, ive got a bought a dozen :) plus 3 or 4 40mm base whirlwinds, 3 vindicators ( a couple are made with copper water pipe, there's no way im building another lead one again unless its soooo cheap its insane) and 2 or 3 predators, most are the profits of bring and buys, and 2nd hand stalls, the counts in exact as there in a store draw and very well packed. but that is a ingenious solution to rhino need. as an aside im still waiting for some clueless no game history, warhammer fantasy joyless type, to agree to let me play 2000pts of "imperial army" against there latest WFB Nth ed army, that will be a persons face I will want to photo
..;) |
BlackWidowPilot | 26 Mar 2014 5:46 p.m. PST |
My Squats -yes, Imperial Army Squats!- got my only two Rhinos aeons ago, so my poor human Army troopers have been hoofing' it ever since. Past time I cooked up some rides for 'em, if only on principle
but I do have two troopers with man-portable multi-lasers I kit bashed so long ago out of a lascannon receiver and some old Archive Miniatures Star Rovers spaceship minis, plus a Thudd Gun, plus assorted heavy weapons and AFVs following the original WH40KRT vehicle design system
Come to think of it, I have some unbuilt original plastic Space Marines and some empty sardine tins

I have a largish 15mm Death Korp of Krieg army, my figs cost me on average around 50c each, and my tanks cost me around $12.50 USD each, and all the figure money goes to small figure companies, a win all round I say. |
chromedog | 28 Mar 2014 10:44 p.m. PST |
I've got 50 kasrkin of my own – and 15 or so of their predecessors (don't have any of the older beret wearing storm troopers, though). I might sell some of them off to a mate at my club whom is starting a guard army. I'll keep the older ones, though. I'm not liking what little I do see coming for them – and kinda glad I stopped spending money on GW stuff. |

..not. Some people, myself included, still enjoy playing Warhammer 40K. If you don't, fine. To toss an insult my way because I do is pretty low. Why don't you step off that high horse and downgrade to a pony. |
Insomniac | 08 Apr 2014 4:23 a.m. PST |
I have an infantry army of metal Catachan Jungle Fighters. All infantry (around 150) with six Sentinels for scouting/support. Only one commissar though
|
Pohtonen | 08 Apr 2014 4:59 a.m. PST |
The first thing I will do with my new codex is to cross off that AM name and wright in big letters Imperial Guard on the cover. Screw GW and their insane copy righting everything they can. I have 2 IG armies, one Catachan and another Squat that I use as IG. |
