Think of a wetter planet Earth*
Now, you guys have seen the fungi growths on ants and other critters: YouTube link
QUESTION: But how can you convert a 15mm figure to look like an infected human? Is 15mm too small to do properly? link Thanks, Dan * TMP link |

Use a pin with a flat head. Bend to a suitable curve. Snip to the correct length and stick it into a hole on the back of the miniature that you have drilled to the correct size (0.5mm or so?) Job jobbed :) |

Hmm. I guess I need smaller bits for my pin vise. Have you been able to do such a conversion yourself, Insomniac? I'd love to see the pics. Thanks, Dan |

I generally stick to 0.8mm and no lower
but I have had drill bits as small as 0.4mm before (they snap really easily so you have to be very careful when drilling). The only mushroom based stuff I have ever made are these (sorry):

I'm tempted to try it now
I imagine that Triffids and other sentient plants would love such an Earth too, right? link

I have to say Dan, those are some of the most disgusting (ie stomach churning) images I've seen in a long while! The real world is a horrible place (and I have a weak constitution!) Yeah: pins and a pin vice. John T |

Another option, less likely to draw blood if you pick up the mini wrong, is to use stretched sprue instead of clipped pins. You can also dip the end of the stretched sprue in superglue, then dip into fine sand or flock to get a nasty looking nodule at the end. |

Check the Alan Dean Foster novel Drowning World link I based a lot of Venus for Hive, Queen and Country on that concept |

I will let you know when I get a bunch of rebel minis from a trade. ;) I was thinking some small lumps and some flaps of green stuff to make the growths
For the fuzzy look, I would try static grass. |

Dan if you'd do a triffid head for the 3 legged dolly I'd get them cast for you. |

Which Triffid head type do you prefer? Dan |
