My latest tamiya kit rolls of the paint table

So as always thanks for looking cheers Russ |

Very nice! How did you paint the interior of the cabin? By brush? Or did you assemble the cab, spray paint the cab and chassis, insert the painted driver, then complete the cab? Soft-skin vehicles with drivers and windscreens are always a bit tricky to paint / assemble. |

Nicely done
appears the kit was relatively a straight forward build. Appears you did a nice dry brush finish
good idea. |

Ethanjt21 thank you kindly, the vallejo range of paints are real nice and seem to make painting WW2 models easier then any other paints I've used. Don Manser thank you also dBerczerk, its all done by brush. It was painted before assembly, the canvas cover was painted by, dry brushing, and also a mottled stippled effect. Its subtle but can add abit more texture to it. The driver was painted before being put into place! I followed the instructions due to the way the cab goes together. The driver can't fit in unless put in place before the front if the cab is stuck in place. pmWalt, almost spot on with the drybrushing part, stippled and mottled is creeping in more and more with my painting. The only reason why is because I've not really painted many vehicles before I started on ww2. So I suppose its all part of the learning curve. So thanks for all the comments guys, keep looking and I will keep posting! Cheers for now Russ |

I just got done with mine, too. I like mine, but yours is better done. I went with less dirt. I used it in it's first game yesterday to haul my German Tank Hunter Killer Teams. It was shot up by a Sherman. Not my best day ever. I think I'll do an Opel Blitz next. Haven't you already done yours? |

Thanks BigNickR Cheers Robby, I've not gone overboard with this one, no scratches no rust, just muck! I figured that not all battlefield vehicles would be in the same state dis-repair. Yeah my opel blitz is done and a second one is knocking about somewhere in my to do pile! I'm thinking of using my latest addition for chucking my assault engineers in it for a ride out! Walking or riding I'm pretty sure they can become toast either way. The more Tamiya kits I build the more of a fan I become so I'm kinda hoping the rumour isn't true that they are winding down the 1/48 range. |

Oh no! I'm with you in hoping Tamiya don't get rid of their 1/48th scale models. I enjoy them too much for that. I've just started my Opel Blitz and it's almost half done already. Of course, painting will slow me down some. I had better get another one. And hurry up and get a Kubelwagen and a Krupp Protze. I really like those little trucks. |

Tamiya are still releasing new stuff in 1/48, but some of the older codes don't seem to be available! So who knows. With ITALERI going into 1/56 with warlord that could mean the end of thier small 1/48 range. The puma, opel blitz, and the 88 are all nice models. |

I can attest to the quality of the 1/48 222 and puma. Both excellent. I sincerely hope Tamiya doesn't end it for good. I dislike 1/56 and I don't care for Hobby Boss. Oh well, you can still track down the older kits on ebay though. |

Ethanjt21 the Hobbyboss kits are cheap enough to pick but they don't build up so easy! I've built acouple of the T34 kits, lots of parts, they look good painted its just the track assembly seems harder work than it needs to be. The Hobbyboss kits have a lot going for them, i cut my teeth with the Tamiya kits as a youngster so I suppose it put me in good stead for building plastic kits. I can understand why some people are put off with kits that have so many small parts, after all the time it takes to build them takes time away from the gaming table. |

I've built display type model kits since I was young, I just find Hobby Boss much too fiddly. It gets rather annoying when you have to build a headlight that has 5 pieces. I just finished the Hobby Boss 1/48 M4A1 76 w/ Wet Stowage. Pain in my buns I tell ye. Each set of track wheels (whatever they're called) is 7 parts. Plus the 2 parts for each of the wheels themselves. I almost shot myself in frustration. The big redeemer was the rubber tracks. Just stretch and wrap em. If it was assembly tracks I'd of jumped out my window. |

I've a couple of Hobbyboss shermans and the rubber tracks make building them a lot easier, but the running gear certainly contains a lot of parts! I'm roughly a third of the way into getting them built, so I will hopefully get them done in the next month or so! Well thats the plan |
