This is a quick preview of a range composed of 12 figures which will be sold by aquilifer.eu

ahem… not to sound too picky…

the rifle looks like an M16 instead of an AR70…

the helmet is plain wrong.

The webbing is wrong… well I hope they are early work in progress, but I am really happy to have the old D&P ones already painted and operational.

Hi Arrigo, please, be kinder with an italian fellow, the pictures don't give justice to his work.

15mm and 28mm Fanatik23 Mar 2014 11:06 a.m. PST

I don't think Arrigo is 'harsh' at all. He did the OP a great favor by pointing out the inaccuracies at this early stage, which can now be rectified before the molds are cast, by which time it would be costly to correct.

I haven't said he's been harsh, I said he could be kind"er"….with an italian fellow.

Maybe you're italian too, Fanatik? Your profile don't say it, but please don't feel you forced to answer.

No problems, if Aquilifer agrees I can modify the gun and the helmet, otherwise they would remain the same.

Regards.

Well being Italian does not mean that I have to condone wrong sculpts!

The helmets are completely different (the current ones are a passable version of the US M1 WW2 helmet and without camo cover), the rifles are fantasy, and the the webbing has to be improved. I am not commenting on the sculptor abilities, but on the equipment. I am pretty sure Wherwolfe can just add the additional side pouches of the webbing in no time and slightly modify the chest rig to look more appropriate.

I have served in the Italian army so I do not see why I have to endorse a bad reproduction of it! I will be unhappy with these errors if the scultpor is Italian, Japanese, American, Vulcan or Klingon!

I am also curious to see if the support weapons have been done and to see which ones have been modeled. Let's face it this is 28mm and these elements are important. Still it is a shame that the new owner of Venexia miniatures is not re-releasing the Italian Army packs…

Quite calm guys, I posted the work in progress due to get some further comments about.
Of course modifications may be done.

Regards.

Grande Arrigo! Ciao.

pwhobby25 Mar 2014 8:38 a.m. PST

I'm with Arrigo.
Bravo!

Unfortunately the molds of Venexia Miniatures (see link below), were sold to Brigademodels USA… and I dont' know if and when they will be in production again.
But… good news for me I got a couple of dozen of that, and they are my next painting project ;-)

See some pics here: link

Look at my blog if you need some TO&E: link I did it for FoF (or better the lack of italian forces on Enduring freedom supplement, grrrrrr), but… it's usable for any games.
Ciao

I appreciate all suggestions.
But I opened this topic due to get comments about the details quality, the realism of movements, the posture and anatomy of the figures, the wringles of the uniform, etc.
The buttstock size or the lack of a button on the jacket are just secondary stuff which are easily repaired by a quick modification.
Furthermore if you want to speak about the Venexia figures, I feel to invite you all to open another forum for this specific topic.

Thank you and regards.

and the comments were on main details. Also I point out that on the leftmost figure in the lower row the gun is held in a stupid way, actually the and is no the barrel a thing my instructors strongly suggested me to avoid. you can just place the left hand closer to the body in the proper position.

The left figure, upper row… the pose looks weird. It remind me of a picture of an US soldier trying to cross an irrigation ditch in one jump and looking silly (and being caught one second before ending into the muddy water).

Also some pictures of the sides of the figures would be nice to get the detail of the body armor joints.

Arrigo:
"the leftmost figure in the lower row the gun is held in a stupid way"
_It's a pump gun, the left hand cannot stand otherwise, you can find several videos in youtube of a SPAS 15 firing.

"The left figure, upper row… the pose looks weird. It remind me of a picture of an US soldier trying to cross an irrigation ditch in one jump and looking silly"
_You can like or not like the pose, but it doesnt look weird as it is anatomically realistic and correctly balanced on his body.

This post started to be stupid, not the figures I showed up.

I hope next pictures will look better.

Regards.

'This post started to be stupid, not the figures I showed up.'

First you ask for comments, then you refuse them calling stupid. Not a very gentlemanly way to act. Maybe it is just because you are not very fluent in English…

I will think to explain better my point on the two incriminating figures SPAS 15… with a bit of imagination… again even with a spas 15 you do not touch the exposed metal part of the barrel. The SPAS has a grip just for that. The first figure… well I do not understand what the chap is doing. Running fast? Maybe, but why one of his feet is in the air? Those are the 'heroic' pose that does not look right on the table. Also it is not what we are trained to do in combat.

Well maybe you will think these comments are stupid…

Wherwolfe26 Mar 2014 1:47 p.m. PST

Arrigo,
you misunderstood me.
As said above, I appreciated your first suggestions and pictures, and discussed them with Aquilifer. Indeed modifications are on the way.
I posted my work in progress because this is my first modern range sculpted, I have got yet a low aknowledge about uniforms and weapons, so that I really need comments and help from more experienced people.
What I dont like is the way to discriminate my work by appointing old figures from other brands and most of all the befooling manner to describe the poses.
Im in TMP just for posting pictures of my works, I dont even use to reply comments, so I won't continue this polemic conversation.
I will just submit more topics with pictures of my figures, constructive comments and/or suggestions will be welcome. All the rest is ignored.

Regards.
