Here is my Warhammer Fantasy High Elf army that I have compiled together to use in my Siege of Gondolin coming up soon.

Very impressive host, and nice to see elves in colors other than blue.

You have 500+ elvish infantry for the Seige of Gondolin; how many figures do you have for Morgoth's attacking forces?

Well, for the orcs, I roughly have about 325 infantry, 75 archers, I am working on 36 wolf riders, 3 dragons, and 1 Balrog. I am thinking of either buying more wolf riders or expanding my infantry….crazy.

But I plan on having a second wave of orcs using my causalities to make other units appear on the table at later turns to balance it out a little better. That is the cheaper way anyway. Those wolf riders cost me about $300 USD bucks…but I want 36 more. I use the Thunderbolt Mountain Miniature wolf riders that Tom Meier makes.

All my armies are (were) evenly matched…except now I have a massive Elf army. Ofcourse I dont have to use all of them (but that is hard not too).

I went a little overboard on my elf army I have to say..haha.

oh, and I should make note about the Siege of Gondolin, almost all the elves stayed within the city walls, they did not take the field.

The only elf units that would be on the field would be what was called the Valley Guard, the only units that had horses and a few foot units. That is the only units that will be in the field. So having a larger Elf army in my mind was ok, to fill up the city walls better, etc. They would be facing balrogs and dragons as well as orcs.

But I am probably going to expand my wolf rider army because from the book notes there were a lot of them on the field. At least as far as I can remember reading.

Forget the army….. The table is amazing! :)

Thank you!! I am still working on the game…first it was the elves, now I am buying more orcs….two shipments on the way…one from Scotland…and one from another place in the UK. Heavy Infantry Orcs and some cool looking Orc Crossbow. I had to expand…since most of my Elf and Human armies, Bretonnia, etc out number the orc army I have.

Had to do it, so I am back on the painting bench again. It never ends. I thought I could stay away from painting for a while.

"Holy pointy ears Batman" That is a lot of elves on that table. It is a lovely sight to see a fully painted army of that size setup and ready for battle.

Thanks! I just finally placed them on the walls of the Gondolin city I have on my table.

How big is that freakin table?!!!
Amazing stuff, epic success.

darclegion30 Mar 2014 12:01 p.m. PST

Thanks! The table is roughly 16' x 12' with an indention in the center. There is about 18" of dead space, but I usually put something impassable or a river, etc….mountains, Castle center, you name it, dead space can come in handy for most of my massive terrain inventory.

You even have a stormtrooper suit. Great. Great table. Awesome project.
The siege of Gondolin is very inspiring.

A truly beautiful collection! I am always amazed at how talented and productive some people can be.

Looks like a museum collection / display.

J.R.R. Tolkien would be proud!

Thank you! Funny I beefed up my Elf army just for that Gondolin game that I have not yet to start. I am still painting about 350 plus orcs to add to the battlefield, since it is of Epic proportions. And I needed more Orcs anyway.

Oh, and I used to wear that Stormtrooper armor when I was in the 501st a ways back…now it is just displayed. Thanks again!
