I decided my tester was a bit dark and went lighter and brighter in the end.
These are reaper bones owlbears.

The owlbears are very nice but the bases are amazing. Where did you get the stumps, ferns, and mushrooms?

Redroom22 Mar 2014 6:57 a.m. PST

stunning work

Oh yes !

If I may say so – you the man ! thumbs up

Love those owl bears – you've completely destroyed their lingering "comic" undertone. Truly fantastic work.

Ping Pong22 Mar 2014 7:28 a.m. PST

Wonderful bases.

Damn, I wiah my Boomkin Druid had half that much animation in World of Warcraft. Well done!

Thanks guys.

I think the owlbears will always be pretty weird no matter what you do. They fit the concept of my fey project and they're sort of cheap.

Mushrooms and stumps are reality in scale.

The mushrooms are one of those things you could make from rod and green stuff almost as easily as cutting the mushroom off a sprue and cleaning it up. Probably get a cleaner top on them as well.

The green ferns are 1/35 etched brass from scale link.
The red brown ferns are paper from model scene.
As are the maple leaves. The leaves are mottled green when you get them and I painted in the veins and orange brown bits.

Love 'em! The Owlbear is one of those iconic D&D monsters, and you (and sculptor Jason Wiebe) have done them proud.

Excellent stuff there. Lovely paint job and bases!

Stunning work, can't say more than that!

Fantastcic!

Now if only they could be domesticated.

Andy ONeill24 Mar 2014 3:21 a.m. PST

Domesticated?
These are highly trained owlbears, pictured at line dance practice.
They're known for their ability to synchronise moves perfectly.

Or actually….
They're all the same because I didn't like the other poses. For some reason the other ones are so different they could be a different species – even though it's the same sculptor.
