Granted, its online using the Roll20.net site, but joined a group as a player and they have accepted me after one session (apparently they have some bad experiences with other invites previously that they kicked out.)

I've had the physical books since Aug, been doing a lot of reading and have been looking for an across-the-table group to join so I can better learn some of the (unfamiliar to this AD&D2ed DM) mechanics mesh.

I'm sure I'll have some, "no duh!" moments when I see how the Combat Maneuver elements work into the gameplay.

First time ever trying out macros also – the DM was SUUUUUPER accommodating and patient, I had only contacted him Tuesdy, and was fumbling my way through some tutorials and not seeing some of the things I should – I asked if I could observe only on Thursday since I just was not adept enough yet & he should use his last hour prep time getting last minute setups.

He took the time to teach and spell out where my disconnects were and helped me to get me ready to play that night – after I met the rest of the party, he realized he needed to jump me up to 2nd Lev so I had to work out all the rank adjustments and modify things in my macros on-the-spot w/o help and did just fine.

I may just join the ten-years-ago crowd and learn to Skype next!

We've been playing Pathfinder since it came out, and 3.5 before that. We still get it horribly wrong. Don't sweat the mistakes, it's suprisingly complicated game…

Sounds like a nice GM.
I quit the group I'd been playing with for the last few years to try something new and ended up joining a Pathfinder group that I've been happy with so far… despite my not generally being a fan of AD&D since… a long time (preferring much simpler RPGs).
Our GM runs a lot of stuff on his laptop so it all seems to run pretty smooth from where I sit… I don't see the complications.

I keep meaning to look for some online games. I've played in a few one-shots on G+ and they were surprisingly close to being at an actual table.
