I have some late war German SS and some have smocks, some have tunics some have helmet covers, some have camo nets for their helmets, some are plain, some have gaiters with straps and some have what appear to be leg warmers or socks rolled over the outside of their boots.
There are so many possibilities here that I am, not lost, but overwhelmed. The helmets and accoutrements will be easy. Everything else, not easy
.
I have broken down my minis by their tops. Smocks to the left, tunics to the right. I think some of the smocks have hoods which I will further break out. I will likely break out the tunics too
.pea dot and just field grey (or just Pea dot
what do you think?)
So the smocks with hoods, should be plane tree camo? the ones with no hoods oak leaf pattern?
Another dilemma I face are those pants without gaiters but have that sock look that acts as a gaiter
.these are all warlord 28mm Bolt Action miniatures by the way. I have not seen anything concerning them on the web. Are those pea dot pants, plane tree, oak leaf, or just German field grey or German grey or green grey?
So, if any one can tell if it is historically accurate to paint the smocks they way I wrote with question marks and if anyone can respond on how to paint those pants with the scarf or sock gaiters, it would be greatly appreciated!
