Battle was fought and the AR Pictures are loaded. Stay tuned for our campaign battle at Abu Klea and my blog on the build of the Gunboat Kadesh (side wheeler). Guru link |

Looks like a fun little action. We sometimes get so focused on the big battle then we forget how much fun a limited action (where every figure counts) can be. Vince |

The Dervish are Old Glory and Perry plastics. The British are also Perry. Guru |

I rather liked the shell bursts. Did you make them? If so, a great idea, very well executed, and cut with a steady hand. Grelber |

Great AAR I have been following all your posts, love this conflict. Just curious why did the Dervish player expose himself to fire from the Cairo when he could have used the buildings for cover or even hid behind the station? He could have charged out at the last second and not endured hardly any ranged fire. |

Yeah, I had hidden the majority of the Dervish forces behind all of the hills and town. I was hoping the RMLI were going to take the direct route through the town where they would have been ambushed. I had the large fuzzie force behind that large hill waiting for them to get closer but his scouts got up there rather quickly. I was going to hold them back in a reserve to either charge when they got closer or sacrifice them to keep the Cairo guns busy while my other units charged home. I figured that they were not going to make it in the allotted time anyway and the dervish succeeded in delaying the Cairo. So, why not try and take out more Marines! The dervish are definitely not concerned with casualties. And the other easy answer was, those darn fuzzes are just too fanatical and refused to hold back! Maybe their charge, being protected by allah could have had them sweep all the way to the decks of the Cairo! Okay wishful thinking
Thanks Dragon Gunner for the comments. This is great discussing Dervish tactics. Our Emirs will do better next time! Guru |

From one Guru to another, FINE JOB on the game and on your AAR as well, Guru! Lots of fun to read, and looks like it was a ton of fun to play as well. I left a comment on your blog, asking a question, and I'll be redundant and ask it again here: in addition to your growing brown-water navy of gunboats, is an armored train in the offing for this impressive campaign as well
? If it requires more funds from the exchequer, I'm willing to go out on a limb and promise my vote in the affirmative! |
