Is/has anyone gamed it using suicide bombers? If so how do you portray it and at what scale? Is it tactical or can it be effectively gamed at a higher level?

Not gamed, but I do have an NVA sapper figure with bomb pack on his chest (like in the movie Platoon).

Never seen that figure…hows it paint up?

The NVA sapper is from Baker Company. A very nice pack that includes some sappers stripped down as well as the figure with the satchel charge on his chest with trigger pulls.

GZG has them in their Islamic faction. I have the 25mm figures but I have not used them in a game as yet.

The Ambush alley Games rules use them. Ambush Valley (Nam),Road to Bagdad (OIF)and Enduring freedom (Stan)

Not in moderns but the Haqqislam faction in Infinity have a suicide type bomber. His bomb doesn't actually kill him as much as he will be killed when he runs out and detonates it but it is pretty much the same thing.

He has an E/M bomb that wipes out enemy equipment but it works, or at least used to work, as a template centered on the model. The enemy models that fall under the template save with their BTS score and if they fail their equipment, including power armour, can stop working.

The troops deploying the device have the dogged special rule so they can continue to get orders even after they have been shot and wounded once. If they are hit and wounded a second time they are just dead.

It can be very effective.

This is at a 1:1 scale.

The models themselves are impetuous which means they move without being given an order but if you don't want them to move towards the enemy you have to give them an order to not move. They can then take orders as normal.

So if you want to have them run up and around the corner and jump into the midst of the enemy, blow up and then take whatever they have coming after that it can easily be done.

Stan Johansen Miniatures has a free set of rules called "Jihad" plus some supporting scenarios, markers and cards. There are rules included for homicide bombers. See link below:

Force on Force has rules to game it.

Used them in an AK47 game once. Resulted in all factions shooting anything that moved 'just to make sure'. Raised the paranoia factor thru the roof for everyone.

Barker's "The Sharp End" modern rules have provisions for bombers, car bombs, IED's and such.

The original 5150 has an expansion called First Contact that has rules for hit & run bombers. Handled at 1:1.

There is now a free add-on bringing them into Battalion Command.
