I have just bought Kursk/Overlord/mini rules and have to say I am very impressed . As more of a modeller, railway style rolling terrain fan rules are not so easy to grasp as I have little time to play often . So practise wont make it better as I will only get a chance to play infrequently with having children and work taking up much of my time. I have been inspired by Piers Bland wonderful set up and the winners of the best game at Salute and hope to get near their quality. I wonder if anybody has streamlined the rules for a slightly quicker game. I love the order system, Morale cards and the use of many types of models. The indirect fire rules seem to be very complicated and long. Has anyone tried to quicken anything in the rules ? Please do not take this as a criticism of the rules as I love them and I want to get a lot figs/ armour on a table. Just I will never have enough time to remember every little detail. Cheers Sid |

Sid – I think Piers is more of a Brand than Bland |

I have been called worse
Glad you like it Sid, responses like that make the work worthwhile. Artillery is alot simpler than it looks. Here is my pictorial walkthrough of the mechanic from our forum

Yes Sid I found them complicated to begin with when just trying to work them out on my tod – but actually playing through a few games with others they soon made sense and we were rattling through the arty strikes – to my cost! |

Hehehhe Piers modelling is anything but bland , but I am afraid he may henceforth be known as Piers Bland |

I've always felt Piers has few peers in the painting field

Thanks Piers , that walk-through does make it a lot clearer . May I just add the set ups I have seen of yours are very inspirational . Very much how Peter Gilder would do it today if he was alive. Full of detail and character, a sort of film set of a game. |

Cant ask for a better compliment than that Sid! If you need any other guidance or queries answering, feel free to ask, either here or on The Guild. Back to work on the next book now
Blitzkrieg and Im hoping to make this book even prettier than the rest! |

Boy, I'll second that Piers! Sidney gave you quite the compliment. Being compared to Peter Guilder, wow! Doesn't get any better than that. As I am a colonial gamer, too I used to look at Peter's Sudan game pictures quite often. Many fond memories, that! Respectfully, Gunny |

So now Piers will you do some painting hints and tips on a blog, to expand those in the books? Please
If you did "how to paint tracks" first I would not be complaining
