I have a friend who lives in the Orlando area, who wants me to come down for it. How big is it (attendees and game-wise.) Are there a lot of kids? Thanks |

Hurricon is a lot of fun, with a wide range of games, and a fair few families. Take a look at hmgs-south.com and take a look at the PEL for Recon in April to get an idea of what is played. I think right now, we're over 100 scheduled games, and pick up games are always going on as well. |

John made my point the next show is in April and Hurricon is in Sept. They have had a shelf of games anyone could chose a game from to play on a empty table or in a designated area. They have had a lot of kids there in the past. And some CCG tourneys as well. If he is in the Orlando area already, he should come to make all of the local wargaming group connections. |

Dapeters, Hurricon and Recon are great conventions. Check out the PEL for the currently scheduled games. There are always pick up games as well. I believe the attendance for Hurricon and Recon is between 350-550 per show, but I'm sure others would have a more acurate count. They have a family reunion type feel to them. Cheers, JB |

Orlando rightly prides itself as a family friendly place. Recon and Hurricon are no exceptions. Rick |

We do indeed pride ourselves on being family friendly. How could one not be in Orlando? Plenty to do including access to theme parks encourages folks to bring the whole family. As to kids depends on what you mean. We have a fair number of kids but that having been said they aren't running wild in the gaming area. On the contrary we find many playing in games! In fact one of our regulars brought his young son to the last Hurricon. He proceeded to set up his own game on a table we let him use. Covered with various plastic army men, tanks and dinosaurs to mention just a few he managed to encourage several other kids to play. Have no idea the rules but boy did they have fun! As already mentioned our game listing is up for RECON and over 100 and just about every era you can think of. If you don't see something then join the discussion on our Yahoo group (you can link directly from our website hmgs-south.com) and start a discussion. Several games this show are a direct result of such discussions. And a nice mix of vendors rounds out our shows nicely. |

Do people still do "beer runs" while playing during the convention? Last time I was there, that was going on a lot at both conventions. Surprised me how many people were drinking and getting blasted during the con, which is the nice thing about Dice Tower Con since they don't allow that but DTC in July 4 is more about boardgames. (Sorry for speaking the truth.) |

I go to alot of conventions: Recon and Hurricon are in the top 5 with great games, vendors and loads of the best people in the hobby. Recommend your attending. B |

It is not unusual for folks to have a beer in the evenings at our conventions. There is certainly no more drinking at either RECON or HURRICON than at any of the other miniature conventions I have attended over the years. |

Whew! Looks like that was just an anomaly then. Plus, it has been several years, which I didn't even realize until now. Where has the time gone! So game on! |

Not sure what your motive is CPBelt ? Ive been going to Recon and Hurricon for years and have seen very little drinking by ADULTS. I,ve witnessed only a handful of the hundreds that go to these Cons crack a beer open ,and mainly late at night . P.S. I dont even drink so I dont realy have a dog in this fight . |
