Hi There Does anyone know where I could find a copy or a download of these rules
they seem to have vanished from the internet. I'd be happy to pay for them if required. Old Scribd link doesn't seem to work for me? Any info would be appreciated Cheers Neil |

The "On to Richmond" that was published in the Courier? If you mean that one, I am currently working to republish it. I hope to have it off to the printer at the end of the month. Printed copies will be $20 USD, PDF $17. USD I'll be sure and announce when they become available. |

Great set of rules! Good luck getting it back out there for sale again. |

Actually, Mark, he's looking for the Regimental version not the original brigade level. |

I don't think they were a pay set of rules. They were just modified OTR for regimental combat. Free Wargames Rules website had a link to them at one time from what i can remember. |

The set was by John P Kelley. He posts here from time to time. You might try asking him if he wills end it to you. |

Mark, The rules are only something like four double-sided pages, so I am curious what you have added to the set in order to get to your price point. |

I have the original set of rules. Due to the genius of my filing system, I can't find them right now. But I recall a slim booklet that was more than 4 pages. I'll look for another few minutes before I quit. |

The version modified by Tom Barkalow? The set I downloaded many moons ago ran to 28 pages. If this is the one you have in mind, contact me at ookishiratori(at)yahoo(dot)ca and I can email you a copy. Unless Mark has any copyright issues with this now that a reprint of the original set is on the horizon, in which case it is his call. OTR is a good set of rules. |

The set I am re-releasing is a brigade level game. It was published as a booklet separate from the magazine. I thought perhaps the OP simply mistook the scale of the game – I was unaware of a regimental version. As for determining price, the guiding phrase is "what the market will bear." The new edition will be a re-write with examples, corrected charts and such. But the main guts of the game remain unchanged. |

If he's thinking of the free regimental rules which used to be hosted by J. P. Kelley and were on the free wargame rules website, it's the home rule modifications I've developed over the years. The rule mechanics have been changed to the point that only a few concepts from the OTR brigade rules remain. The most comparable commercial set is Regimental Fire & Fury. It's almost the antithesis of OTR's simplicity at this point. I'd be glad to send anyone a pdf or Word 2010 file of the latest version. Just send your email address to me at gamertom(at)att(dot)net. Extra Crispy – many years ago when Dick Bryant owned these rules when he had The Courier, he sent a complaint to Hal Thinglum after a version was published in MWAN that I didn't indicate OTR was copyrighted by him. I then placed a statement in the preface to the rules which I removed after Don Perrin obtained the rights and I talked to him about it at Little Wars. Would you like me to reinstate a statement to the effect that On To Richmond is now copyrighted by you? The statement I used to have was "REGIMENTAL-LEVEL ON TO RICHMOND (ROTR) offers tactical scope rules for wargaming battles from the American Civil War. It is based on Paul Koch's ON TO RICHMOND (OTR) rules (a published rules set copyrighted by The Courier magazine)." |

Hi All Firstly, thank you so much for the help and advice
Extra Crispy, thanks, I have the original brigade level OTR rules. I was wanting to tinker a bit down to the regimental level and that was why I was asking the question. Don't worry if you have a new updated version of the brigade rules, I'll probably still buy them!! :-) gamertom, yes it is the ones previously hosted on the free wargames rules website that I was interested in
even if totally different I would be interested, the regimental set would be for more of a detailed game for some gamers more interested in the period as opposed to the "lighter" but nonetheless excellent brigade game. I shall PM you off board to ask for a copy of the pdf. Once again thanks to all for your replies and support Neil |

I used OTR and then ROTR (Thanks Gamertom)to introduce my boys to ACW gaming a few years ago. We have sinced moved on to RFF, but I highly recommend OTR. Sometimes it is nice for simple game once in awhile for veteran gamers and they are great for introducing new players to the concepts which do not change a whole lot from one rule set to another. |
