Are they just assuming potential enemies won't notice?!

"The justification offered for including these ships in the battle force inventory is that they will eventually be replaced by the littoral combat ship (LCS). In other words smaller vessels of dubious utility"

Garand17 Mar 2014 7:23 p.m. PST

Also added to the battle force inventory are coastal patrol (PC) boats. Weighing in at about one-seventh the displacement of the littoral combat ship, the Navy's smallest combat vessel, the PC is armed with twin 25mm guns and several .50 caliber machine guns. If an enemy has attacked the U.S. Navy with container ships, cabin cruisers, or sailboats a 25mm gun is a fearsome thing. If an enemy attack is conducted by such small widely-operated naval combat ships as frigates, the anti-ship missiles they commonly carry will sink a PC far beyond its small weapons' range.

A bit biased and myopic IMHO.

Damon.

I don't think o's an inaccurate assessment at all.

Hmmm, not sure a hospital ship has that much utility for a fleet, other than to serve as a big missile/torpedo magnet against foes that don't follow the rules of war.

How would they know that one of the blips in their radar is a hospital ship?

Stryderg18 Mar 2014 8:43 a.m. PST

Those radar blips are marked with a big white H on the side.

rules of war??, really there are rules???? besides: rule 1 kill everyone on the other side and destroy anything that will keep them alive . rule 2 apply rule 1 anyway, whenever, and anywhere you can. Sorry any other rules are just dumb……
