I think it's a chaos dread from the early days.

Thanks
Scotty

I believe you are correct a Chaos dred . the first one made by GW

combat wombat17 Mar 2014 6:17 p.m. PST

Wow it's ugly!!!

tberry740317 Mar 2014 6:19 p.m. PST

Looks like an old Chaos Dreadnought.

combat wombat17 Mar 2014 6:32 p.m. PST

Great. I'm going to put it on eBay.
You guys are the best

Scotty,

yep. Chaos Dread. matter of fact I sold one, at Recruits about 3 years ago, looking exactly like that.

Hmm, it was in a tyranid bin my buddy wants me to get rid of here in St. Louis. Might be the same one since we go to recruits.

Only Warlock17 Mar 2014 7:22 p.m. PST

yup, used to have one. Awesome piece of kit.

When you list it on ebay, be sure to include both of the words 'Dreadnought' and 'Hellbrute' for maximum exposure.

Space Monkey17 Mar 2014 8:38 p.m. PST

I've got one of those… I never did figure out how to paint it so that it still didn't look kinda fugly.

combat wombat17 Mar 2014 9:00 p.m. PST

Thanks 28mm!

JLA10517 Mar 2014 9:01 p.m. PST

Still got mine around here somewhere…ugly brute.

I don't know about the UK, but if I remember correctly, it was only ever available in the US in one of the late 80's retailer "Preview Deals" (one per?). I'd be curious to know if it was ever availible otherwise.

IIRC, mine's a bit garish! And I don't remember if I had the pelvis' "stinger" turned backwards, or forewords, like, um, this one…

darthfozzywig17 Mar 2014 11:08 p.m. PST

I have one of those! He's painted up on my shelf.

Stealth100017 Mar 2014 11:43 p.m. PST

Its a giant evil sex bot.

streetline18 Mar 2014 3:37 a.m. PST

It works OK as a nurgle dread. I doubt it could carry off a slaaneshi colour scheme, stinger or no…

FredNoris18 Mar 2014 5:17 a.m. PST

Nurgle dread.

I have the lower torso reversed from op.

Johnny Aces18 Mar 2014 5:34 a.m. PST

It may be ugly, but it has more detail than the Space Marine one from the same time that I have.

Yeah, very old school GW …

combat wombat18 Mar 2014 8:37 a.m. PST

I think ill strip it down first.

Stern Rake Studio18 Mar 2014 2:55 p.m. PST

I'm just getting into WH40K thanks to my daughter's boyfriend. Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do!

Olaf the hairy19 Mar 2014 2:16 p.m. PST

While you are stripping it you might want to take it apart and reasemble it. the shoulder sections ar back to front, the holes should be at the back which will give the posture shown in FredNoris' picture, and as mentioned the lower torso is back to front. That should increase it's desirability to collectors.

Jaysus, that thing's ugly as sin…
