Besides the Osprey publications, wondering what other resources there are for flags and uniforms for the Thirty Years War?

Currently most interested in Imperialist units, realizing that uniforms were often a mixed bag, and that Wallenstein ordered in 1632 that red details were to be the norm across his army.

I don't think there is any real need to look for uniforms? None of the details are well known even if they existed, and it's well documented that uniforms were scarce at times, varied within units, or in the case of many units, simply didn't really exist.

Just make it up.

I've seen mention of some unit commmanders using the colors of their heraldry, although haven't seen anything that confirms this yet.

Here's a link to one person's info …

You can start with the four Osprey books on the Swedes and the Imperialists. More of a guide than rules.

A useful little blog to start

That Saxon site, I'd need to translate. And was looking for sources outside the Osprey books.

I like that last link! Thank you!

And keep them coming regarding flags and uniforms, if you have something more! : )

Thanks Games poet for the kind words.
Here is the one I actually meant to let you have (but couldn't remember where it was until now…)

The Saxon PDF, if you keep paging down, had loads of Saxon flags and banners. I book marked it.

This new book is also on the Saxons in the TYW.

The Swedish Army Museum has stuff available online from the trophy collection. Here is a link with a search for the terms "Fana" (flag) and "Trettioåriga" (Thirty years). Most of the results are German catholic, with a few others as well, like Spanish.

Took a second look at the link provided by stecal, found the download, and wow! It's now on my computer for future perusal. : )

Like seeing those flags at the Swedish Army Museum, too! It would be neat to know what units some of them belong. The flags can be clicked on which brings a person to an individual to a larger picture of each one, and apparently some verbage on the right hand side as well. Good stuff!
