I was wondering if David Manley or anyone else could provide a little more info about what's going to be at this show. I am thinking seriously of going to it, but it's a "brave auld jaunt" – as we say in Northern Ireland – from where I live to Southern England, and would just like a little more info before booking making a final decision. Also
if anybody happens to know a B&B close to the venue, I would really appreciate them letting me know details about that too. |

I was stationed in Gosport back in the day, and whilst I can't give you any B&b info, I can tell you that the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, RN Museum, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior etc are just a short ferry ride across the harbour away, so that might influence your decision. The Submarine Service Museum, and HMS Alliance, a preserve 'A' Boat, are in Gosport itself
Fort Brockhust, which used to be the venue for this show, and I hope still is, is one of the old 'Palmerston Folly' forts built to deter a French invasion in the 1860's, so is a great venue
Gosport itself is a dormitory town so not the most spectacular night life, but again the 5 minute ferry journey to Portsmouth opens up an active, if unsophisticated, nightlive
I can recommend 'Joanna's' Nightclub, in Southsea, AKA the RN School of Dance. If you can't 'trap' in Jo's, you can't won't 'trap' anywhere, as they say

We went last year – the show itself is friendly and relaxing. Hang around like-minded people, push some ships around tables and roll dice. A nice weekend :) We will be there again with a Victory at Sea 2.0 participation game (likely Battle of Denmark Strait), and very possibly the Ironclad/ACW version of the game too (with appropriate miniatures!). |

It has been a few years since I lived in Pompey. The Midnight Tandoori midnighttandoori.co.uk however was a regular eating place. Back then it was simply excellent, one hopes it still is. |

Yes lads, all VERY good reasons to make my way to Gosport. I actually forgot Gosport is no distance from Portsmouth (geography isn't my strong point), with HMS Victory, and the Battle of the Denmark Straits sounds like a lot of fun too. Think I'll visit the Easyjet website next
