I got the rules and they have rekindled my interest in the period. I really like the way the clock works and also the personality profiles for the generals. I painted up 2 brigades in two days and have started a third.
I've got a question about the definition of "cover."
I understand that in most cases, any "rough ground" is "cover" during shooting/skirmishing, but is this also true for close combat? I ask because I keep coming up with situations where it may not be the case. Examples:
Close combat attacker is crossing stream (rough ground) but defender is not. I'd give the defender the +1.
If both were in woods on level ground, I'd either give both the +1 or neither the +1. Either way no advantage to either side.
If both were in woods, but one was uphill, I'd give the one uphill the +1.
Am I on the right track here??? Perhaps woods (rough ground) are not cover in close combat in most cases?
